Having been in operation since 1984, Hawaiian Walkways is the original hiking tour company on the Big Island. Specific tours, or as they call them, 'classic tours' are offered for groups of up to 10 passengers. These 'classic tours' include: a hiking excursion through the trails of the beautiful Waipio Valley and another tour of Waipio that will take you down to the valley's black sand beach, two separate tours which will take you to the live volcano for a walk that will likely bring you in close proximity to hot flowing lava or to the rim of an ancient caldera, a native Hawaiian forest hike that will tour you through the mist and the clouds to see a special jungle location lined with rare trees and plants and even a Helicopter hike that is arranged through Paradise Helicopters that does an over-flight of Hawaii's Waipio Valley and then affords you the opportunity to explore first hand on a hike, the beautiful terrain you just flew over. These 'classic tours' can also be arranged as 'personal tours' with Hawaiian Walkways if you would like them reserved just for your group of four persons at a special rate. Additional people can be added at the cost of a regular 'classic tour' participant. You can also arrange for as many as 10 people to be taken anyplace for a tour on the entire Big Island for a special private rate.
Relax and enjoy the drive to the historical town of Honoka'a for a restroom break and time to enjoy the famous 'Honoka'a Boy' town environment. During the course of the drive, a Japanese and English speaking guide will explain the history of Kona, the volcanoes, Waimea, Honoka'a and Waipi'o as taught to the guide by elder Kupuna.
Travel up the beautiful Hualalai Mountain. Here you will find the highest organic Coffee Farm in the states. Spend a little over an hour here where you will be given a forty-minute tour of the facilities and learn just about as much as you want to know about how coffee is grown, picked, made and sold.
