Maui Inter-Island Tours

Maui is a fantastic destination for your Hawaiian vacation but what makes it even better is the easy access to Maui Inter-Island Tours and excursions. You can come to Maui, bring your luggage and check into a hotel or condo but then venture out on one-day tours to exciting destinations on the other islands and be able to return later that night and go to sleep in your original accommodation. You will find in most instances that this is a much more economically efficient way to visit locations on the outer islands. You will save the expense of hotel accommodations at the other islands and in most cases the airfare or ferry pricing between islands is already included in the price of your tour. In addition, many of these inter-island excursion prices are then offered at discount pricing as well.

What locations can you visit on one-day excursions from Maui?

  • Take a ferry to Lanai and enjoy a tour of the island.

So, here you are on Maui. You're enjoying your stay here, but you may be interested in going to see other islands.

So, this can be done without actually having to go move to another island, change hotel rooms, get new Rent-A-Cars, and going through all that. You can actually do one day tours of various islands from Maui, which is really really convenient. We got one day tours that'll take you over to Lanai, we can get you to Molokai, we can get you to Oahu, and Pearl Harbor and all of that. We can also get you to the Volcanic Activity and then return you the same day. You go to sleep in the same hotel, in the hotel bed that you woke up in that morning. So, these are some options that we have.

Let's take a look at a map here so we can a little bit better idea of what we've got going. So here's Maui, this is Maui county. The first island that we have that you can get to, on an inner island kind of a day, is going from Maui over to the island of Lanai. And that you would do by going to Lahaina, getting on a ferry. We have a ferry that cruises across, takes a little bit more than an hour. You'd go over to Manele over here and off load. And then you could visit the island. There's two beautiful hotels that are there. You can also arrange for a Jeep and cruise around. And then go back to the ferry, come back for the day. So, that's one thing you can do. That's one island.

Molokai. We also have single day tours that you can get over there. We have a ferry also that'll take you from Lahaina take over to Kaunakakai and from there's a few options. You can Rent-A-Car and drive around. You could take a tour of the island. They meet you there and then you get to scoot all the way around, see it all. We even have a tour that'll take you up to Kalaupapa Lookout. And then you can, at that point, do a Hike Down to Father Damien's Leper Colony and then back up. That's only for some people that are really in shape, obviously, but that's available to you. And then they bring you back to the ferry and then you come back. So, that's a full day that you got going there on one of those options with a rental car or the tour or the Hike Down to Kalaupapa.

Another way that you can visit Molokai is by leaving from Maui in a Plane, a small one, and flying directly over to Kalaupapa, landing there. And then spending some time, usually about a four hour tour cruising around Father Damien's Leper Colony and seeing everything that there is to see there. It's quite amazing. So, those are the tours that we have go to Molokai.

But, what many people really wanna see is over here on the island of Oahu. And, so we have tours that will leave from Maui and fly you over to Honolulu and then take you to see various places on Oahu. Now these can be in smaller aircraft, that you can kinda flightsee on the way over and so on. Those are some options and then when you land here you'll be doing another tour. Most prevalent among the tours that we have are on the regularly scheduled airlines. So, you're gonna be going over on Hawaiian perhaps. And so these require tickets that you're gonna just show up at the airport. You're on Maui and then you're gonna be flying over to Honolulu International Airport. You'll be met there by someone who will then take you in a van, or whatever vehicle they've got, and do the various activities that you can do on Oahu.

Primarily, what we're talking about on Oahu and what everybody really wants to see, the main attraction there is Pearl Harbor. And there are a number of different tours that see a number of different things. So depending upon how you organize it for what you wanna see, you can go over to see Pearl Harbor. Once there, you're gonna be seeing the Arizona Memorial. You'll see the USS Missouri, the big battleship. That was where they signed the treaty at the end of World War II, at the end of the war. There's the USS Bowfin, which is a submarine that was operational during those times. You get to actually walk in there and see how the submariners lived. You've got the Aviation Museum that's there and there are other exhibits that you can walk around and see. So, those are some of what could be offered depending upon which tour you're taking.

There are also tours, once you're there, that'll take you there and take you beyond up to the Dole Plantation, up to the North Shore, up where we have all the big surf, and see those beaches. Take you to Polynesian Cultural Center, spend some time there. Cruise around the back side and see this coastline. So, there's many different activities. There's places in Honolulu right downtown that they'll take you and show you. So there's a number of different options that you have of getting to Oahu and seeing different things.

We have similar excursions to this, that go the other way from Maui and take you over to the Big Island here. These can be very similar in the sense that you're on the regularly scheduled airlines that are gonna fly from Maui to the big island. You're gonna land here, generally you're gonna land in Hilo, which is here. And you're gonna be going over to see all the volcanic activity that you'll see in this area, particularly Kilauea area. These are full days, but you're really going to get a chance to see the Volcano from the ground, to see the lava, to experience the Thurston Lava Tube, all the various things that are over there: steam and vents that are happening all around you. You're gonna get a sense of what it's like to be at this area where this volcano is. So, you'll drive around, they'll show you all these different things and then they're gonna fly you back.

I'm gonna talk a little bit more about those tours in just a moment because there's some things you need to know, but there's also one other option you can do in terms of the Big Island. That is to take one of the small fixed-wing aircraft, Flightseeing Aircraft we call them, that will leave here from Maui, kind of view Maui. And so you get the overview of Maui from the air, or part of it anyway, and then they take you over to this same rift zone that we're talking about here on the big island. And you're getting to see the volcanoes from the air, which is pretty amazing. And there's some spots in there that you really don't get the full picture of what it's all about until you see it from the air. And they are quite amazing, those. But essentially that's a much smaller tour, maybe a little over two hours. Fly all the way over to the big island, crisscross it, see all that rift zone really really well and then bring you back to Maui. You also get the, you know, get to see the Hamakua Coast and all the beautiful places that you're gonna pass on the way there. And also, flightsee Maui as well.

So, but let me get back to the other part, where we're talking about the tours that involve the regularly scheduled airlines and then the tours. The one thing that you really need to understand about this, and I don't think there's anything else that we have that's really like this in terms of a tour, but when they put these together, they organize these flights with the airlines. And then organize the tour that you're gonna be getting and so on. And on these you have to be a little bit careful before you book them because they are non-refundable, non-transferable. If you don't go you lose your money. That's the way it works.

And they're also really, nowadays, really security conscious about everything. We need to know your first, middle, and last name, your date of birth. You need to have the certificates or driver's licenses or passports, whatever it is, available to show people. And if you don't have it, that's not good. They're not gonna let you do the tour. So, it's not that it's that much you need to have, but you do need to have certain things. We'll make sure that you understand what they are, but the one thing you need to understand is that these are gonna be non-refundable. So they're worthwhile, they're fantastic to do, they really save you a lot of time and energy because you can do it all in the same day. But, there just is that one caveat that you should be aware of.

In any event, this is the inner island activity that we have from Maui. So, you can come here and enjoy all the things that Maui has to offer. And then take a day and fly off to the Big Island, fly off to Oahu, fly off to Kalaupapa or take a day on a ferry over to Lanai and enjoy other islands as well.

So if you have any questions about Tours or Activities in Hawaii, just give us a call or check out tombarefoot.com. We're here to help.
