Excellent experience.

The best of both worlds. Nice van back from Hana after taking the helicopter out there. Highly recommend!

Hi. I just want to ask couple questions since you've done this tour. Did you
guys or any in the tour group swam by the waterfalls? Supposedly you are allowed
to swim. Did you take the earlier 7:15 am tour? Deciding whether we should do
7:15 or 11:45. (7:15 seems very early.) Also, how many people were in the van?
Thank you!

The van trip was very informative but we didn't get to stop where we really wanted. The lunch was simple, just wraps and pasta salad. No snack as stated on the web. But the helicospter ride was out-of-this-world! The pilot, Mike, took us over the south side of the island where we saw wild goats and steep canyons, waterfalls, and the ruins of the dwellings of the Ancients. The best was circling over a pair of humpback whales who were close to the surface of the ocean. A surreal experience!

Best road to hana van ride there. Driver very knowledgeable about plants and Hawaiian culture. Wraps subpar not much chicken but brownies and pineapple good. So nice to fly back a 30 min ride instead of more hours and hours on the road.

This tour was the highlight of our Maui trip. We did the 11:45 am tour which I think is better than the earlier tour. We took the helicopter to Hana. Glenda our pilot was wonderful. My husband & I did this tour before, but this time with our 16 year old daughter. I have to say though that our previous helicopter ride was better just because we flew over the Haleakala volcano(this time too cloudy & it didn't allow us to fly over the volcano). We saw waterfalls from afar. In our previous one we flew in front of the waterfalls which was really cool. We also flew over a rainbow the last time, but no rainbow this time. Overall, wonderful helicopter tour. Getting nauseous is expected. Then, after landing at Hana's heliport, we did the road tour in a big comfy van. We had a great tour guide-Michael. Boy he's so knowledgeable. Knows everything about the island. Of course there were several stops. If not for this tour, we wouldn't have known all these places like black sand beaches, where to stop for waterfalls etc. We were able to swim by the waterfalls which was the highlight of our road trip. Thank you Michael! You are awesome. You can purchase a DVD copy of your helicopter tour if you want. Make sure you tip your road tour guide. Tombarefoot.com has the best deal on this Hana helicopter/road trip combo. I did my research. It's also great while checking out different tours from tombarefoot, you can chat with a representative to ask any questions you may have. Lunch was not bad, but it's not exactly what's on the list or what was described. We stopped at a beach & our driver served us our lunch. 2 different wraps, pasta salad, pineapple, juices, water & brownies. Overall, we were happy. If you are planning to swim best thing to do is wear your bathing suit under your clothes. Swim trunks for the guys. Pack a light bag with your towel & extra clothes. You are allowed to bring a bag in the helicopter as long as it's less than 3 lbs. hope this info helps any future travelers! One more tip: wear water shoes!
