Travel Blog #139 - Kayak Sea Cave Adventure With Ocean Safari Kayaks

When we pulled into the parking lot at the Keauhou Bay we could immediately see that the days ocean conditions were absolutely perfect for kayaking. We selected our two person kayak from a group of kayaks that were lined up on the shore. As we geared up our boat the rest of our group arrived and after our guide gave the group a quick briefing he began launching the boats. He launched the boats one by one and instructed us to paddle to the middle of the bay and wait for the rest of the group before we all moved down the coast together.

Within about 10 minutes we had all gotten our kayaks in the water and had begun the paddle down the coast. We paddled south around the point on the left side of the bay and then continued to follow the coastline south. As we paddled we passed by some awesome geologic features, including a sea cave that we got to paddle into. It was not long before we had reached our days snorkeling destination.

The fish and sea life was amazing to look at, but it seemed like most of the groups attention was focused on a cliff that everyone was taking turns jumping off of into the water. It was fun to see some of the kids go again and again to the top of the rock and then jump off. Our guide had brought a cooler full of snacks and drinks that he opened up for everyone to help themselves to. We spent quite a bit of time here, playing, jumping into the water, snorkeling, and just relaxing.

Eventually we got back into our kayaks and began making our way back up the coastline towards our initial departure point. On the way back our guide let us spread out a bit more so all the different kayaks could find their own pace. We decided to try to get a bit of a workout on the way back. We managed to get our heart rates up a bit and got back quite a bit before some of the other members of the group. What was nice to see is that when each kayak made it back to the boat ramp, the paddlers were all smiling. There were all kinds of fitness levels and personality types in our group and Ocean Safari Adventures seemed to cater well to all of them. They did a great job.
