We're interested in booking a helicopter tour while we are on Maui just before Christmas. However, if I book the tickets, what happens if the weather is bad. Can we reschedule? Will we get a full refund?
Thank you very much for submitting a quick question form to us. In response to your question there's a 24 hour window of cancellation prior to the flight in which you'd need to cancel. Customers are asked to phone in the night before for confirmation of weather conditions and they'll give you a call if they know that they will have to cancel and reschedule.
Hawaii boasts 11 of the 13 climate zones in the world, each with unique ecosystems and weather characteristics. Factors such as elevation, pressure variations, rainfall, wind and topography combine to create distinctive locations throughout the islands. Showers are very common; yet while some of these are very heavy, mostly light and brief - a sudden sprinkle of rain and it's over. Even the heaviest rain showers are seldom accompanied by thunder and lightning.
We have more wind than rain issues here, half of Maui is situated within 5 miles of the island's coastline. Maui's rugged, irregular topography produces wide swinging variations in conditions. Imagine a huge sail, blown into the circle of 4 islands that comprise Maui County, wind that sweeps inland would bounce the mountain to mountain, then rebound through valleys, and slip over vast open slopes. This complex three-dimensional flow of air results in striking variations in wind speed, cloud formation, and rainfall.
