A watersport that has only recently become popular on Maui is wakeboarding. The sport of wakeboarding has been popular on the lakes and inland waterways of the mainland, but there was never a boat that offered wakeboarding on Maui until recently. Captain Ryan Hickey came to Maui from the state of Montana and shortly after his arrival he founded his company named Wake Maui. Wake Maui offers wakeboarding excursions off of the coast of Lahaina on the west side of Maui. They use a twenty-three foot Ski Supreme V232 boat that has a thousand pound ballast in the rear of the boat to help magnify the size of the wake. Lessons are available for beginner, intermediate, as well as advanced riders. If your family wakeboards at home and would like to try it while your on vacation or if you're a complete beginner looking to try it out for the first time, then you might want to look into the wakeboarding packages that are offered by Wake Maui.
