When your going to visit the Island of Lanai on a trip from Maui on the ferry service "Expeditions" the ride over and back is half the fun. It would be hard to think of a more beautiful commute between any set of islands than this. Expeditions leaves from Lahaina Harbor on Maui about four times a day on its daily schedule to Lanai. The tour across takes about fifty minutes and must be booked in advance. Often it is completely booked. The trip over is fantastic as you are cruising between the islands of Maui, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe and Molokini and quite often can see the tops of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa on the Big Island of Hawaii. During whale season it is a special treat as you are certain to be seeing whales on your passage.
The Expeditions Ferry Service is the main means of transportation to shuttle back and forth between the islands of Maui and Lanai. Ferry service on this picturesque commute can be purchased separately or it can be included as a package with a day-tour activity on Lanai such as a golf package, jeep rental, sightseeing tour or horseback ride.
