The Maui Princess has been known as a boat that cruises the coasts of Maui off the coast of Lahaina at sunset time for many years. This boat is large and seaworthy and provides a comfortable ride along the shore. From its top deck you can often see as many as five different island as it cruises the shallow waters of the Lahaina Roadstead. You can often see the Big Island of Hawaii in the far southern exposures and also of course the island of Maui, and the islands of Kahoolawe, Lanai and Molokai. The really special treat however is to look back on the island of Maui. The huge valleys like Kauaula and Olowalu and Honokowai that carve deep like slices into the heart of the West Maui Mountains are covered at their top with a usual ring of clouds and mist which in the afternoon sun produce rainbows arching between the valley walls in one of the most picturesque scenes in all of Hawaii.
The environmentally conscious Hawaii Ocean Project operates a number of tours out of the West Side of Maui port of Lahaina Harbor. Their touring options include day tours and ferry trips between Maui and Molokai, dinner cruises, sunset cruises, snorkeling tours to Lanai and whale watches.
