The Kihei boat ramp is a great departure point to go snorkeling from particularly if you are planning to snorkel out to Molokini. The ramp itself is only about twenty minutes from Molokini. Thus, it's much more desirable to leave from as a location than Maalaea Harbor, which will be twice as long a ride. Kihei boat ramp is the departure point for the 39' Aluminum Hulled S.A.F.E boat (Secured Around Flotation Equipment) called the Seafire. This fast and maneuverable boat takes personalized groups of a maximum of 21 passengers out on trips to Molokini. They actually offer two trips. The first is a three hour trip that visits Molokini and another location where the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles are found. The second trip offered only visits the island of Molokini on a two hour tour.
One of the quickest snorkel runs to Molokini can be taken on the 39' aluminum hulled speed boat run by Sea Fire. Sea Fire departs from the closest harbor to Molokini which is the Kihei Boat Ramp and since the boat is one of the fastest to be found it will arrive at Molokini in the shortest time possible.
