The Mendes family runs an active cattle ranch on Maui's Kahakuloa coast. This ranch is located on the east side of the West Maui Mountains north of Wailuku. The Waihe'e Valley is located above the ranch which is one of the wettest spots on the planet. The Mendes family has lived here ranching for generations. In recent years their focus has split from ranching to also include a horseback ride and now ATV tours that they operate on their large ranch. This ride has gained a reputation for bringing the local color and flair of the Mendes families' paniolo roots to the visitors of Maui. The Mendes Ranch stretches from the lush valley above all the way down to the coastline. The route of the ATV tours most of the ranch going through rainforests high up on the mountain and through pastures along the coast.
