1.5 Hour Mule Wagon Tour - Waipio Valley Wagon Tours
The one hour mule drawn wagon tour goes across the valley stopping midway for a view of the back of the valley and the waterfall Hi'ilawe. Learn about the history of the valley and it's legends, spiritual and cultural significance. You'll experience a wonderland of majestic waterfalls, taro patches, lush tropical foliage and wild horses. Guides are very knowledgeable in the history and culture of Hawaii and especially this most ancient of valleys, the Waipi'o Valley of the Kings.
Operates: Monday-Saturday: 10:30am, 12:30pm, 2:30pm and 3:30pm when it is busy.
Departure Point: Meet at the Neptune Gardens/Last Chance Store in Kukuihaele off Hwy 240. (about a 2 hour drive from Kona and 1.5 hours from Hilo).
Duration: 1.5 to 2 hours.
Equipment: Wagon has cushioned seats, Amish springs and GM shocks for a smooth and comfortable ride.
Capacity: 10 passengers.
Exclusions: Bring your own water, soft drinks and snacks of your choice. Wear long pants, closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat.
Serves Alcohol: There is not any alcohol available during the activity.
Foreign Language Translation: There is no foreign language translation available.
Handicapped Accessible: This tour is not suitable for handicapped individuals.
Required Certifications: The participant is not required to have any certification or special license in order to participate.
What to Bring: It is recommended that you bring a camera with you. We suggest bringing your camera in a ziplock bag in case you need to protect it from the elements.
Restrictions: Participants with a total body weight of 270lbs or more are not permitted on this activity. People with with conditions involving their back, knees, neck, shoulders or other joints, women who are pregnant, people who have had recent surgeries or any other individuals with conditions that make them unable to handle sudden, jarring impacts are not permitted on this activity. Cancellations of this reservation cannot be made within forty-eight hours of the scheduled check in time.
This tour has a 48 hour cancellation policy. This means that once you're within 48 hours of the start time, the tour the tour is non refundable. If you choose to cancel before this time, the standard 10% cancellation fee will apply. If the vendor needs to cancel your tour because of weather, a mechanical issue or any other reason you will receive a 100% refund of the price you paid. Please allow enough travel time. Is a 2 hour drive from Kona and 1.5 hours from Hilo. Waipio Valley Wagon Tours operates a tight schedule, do not be late. This activity is not accessible by wheelchair or walker. For Pride of America Cruise passengers this is available on Tuesday of your cruise schedule.
