Hilo/Doors On Lava & Rainforests Adventure - Paradise Helicopters

Starting at: $220.90

Choose the Hilo Lava & Rain-forests Adventure Doors On air adventure for a birds eye view of volcanic activity and waterfalls inaccessible by any other means! This air adventure showcases how the story of Hawaii is inextricably linked to the elements. From Hilo you will fly over Kilauea where you will get into the molten heart of Hawaii with a glimpse of the red, hot lava flow activity at the crater, the most active volcano on earth. View the volcanic rebirth of the island and witness the awesome power. Over on the windward side it catches enough rain to make Hilo the wettest city in the United States. All this water fills tunnels that once flowed with lava, creating incredible rivers, pools and waterfalls all over East Hawaii. Hilo's lush rain forests, Mauna Loa's vistas and the plunging Wai'anuenue (Rainbow Falls), so named for the rainbows you can see in the mist when the early morning sunshine hits the water.

Barbara Lawson
What a great experience! My grandkids were so excited. Our pilot searched until we found lava. I felt very safe through the whole preflight and flight. We had to be rebook was so accommodating!

John Coryea
My family and I had a great time. Sat in the back seat and as I'm a big guy (tall) it was a little cramped. Was able to take some great pictures of the pu'u o'o vent with lava showing as well as lava flowing on its way to the ocean. Mother nature did not cooperate for the waterfalls.Rivers not flowing that great so waterfalls we're not big.

Wendy C
This was a great excursion! We booked this through Tom Barefoot's Tours because they were cheaper than booking through the actual helicopter company so we were able to save money. Thanks Tom Barefoot's Tours!

Mary Washburn
The helicopter was better than expected, and we had high expectations. We saw many different type of lava. Our pilot Matt was attuned to the passengers. It was an extraordinary experience.

Rita Fuja
This was an amazing excursion! Our pilot was knowledgeable and did a great job narrating our trip and pointing out many interesting sites. We were fortunate to be able to see lava activity at the crater as well as a lava break out. A highlight of our trip!

Helen Thomson
Great experience from check-in to end of flight. A once in a lifetime opportunity to see an erupting volcano so close. Pilot Dan customised the flight based on the passengers wishes, the waterfalls were a nice extra.

Ann Ingram
Great fun but going to fast to enjoy the views on the ride. Quite the workout.

Ann Ingram
The absolutely best views of the lava and fountain I got of fissure 8. Great ride.
