Molokini Wild Side Eco-Adventure - Pacific Whale Foundation
This new Molokini tour is a small group eco-adventure that travels off the beaten path and includes a sea turtle photo safari, with instruction in underwater photography and the opportunity to participate in sea turtle research. Departing from Maalaea Harbor, the first destination is Molokini, where you can enjoy some relaxed and leisurely snorkeling. Next, cruise around the rugged red rock back wall of Molokini. Seabirds such as wedge-tailed shearwaters and great frigatebirds nest on this islet and are often seen. Then, cruise along the dramatic coast of Makena, past the volcanic shores of the Ahihi Kinau Nature Reserve and La Perouse Bay. Spinner, bottle nose dolphins and manta rays are often seen. Last but not least, stop at Nahuna Point, one of the sites of Pacific Whale Foundation's sea turtle research project. You'll learn about the research techniques that are used to assess the population of turtles in this area, and you'll be invited to help out as they conduct a survey of the sea turtles that are found here.
