Keauhou Sea Cave Morning Kayak Adventure - Ocean Safari Adventures
After checking in, we will outfit your single or tandem kayak with life jackets, backrests, paddles, snorkel gear and bottled water. We help you launch into calm and picturesque Keauhou Bay, where we conduct a group instruction. After leaving Keauhou Bay, the birthplace of Kamehameha the Great, we head south along the cliffs toward Kuamo'o Bay. Along this stretch we look for dolphins, manta rays and turtles. There are interesting arches and blowholes to see along the cliffs. In Kuamo'o Bay, we head for a sea cave that often allows us inside to explore its pink walls and aqua waters. Often times this cave catches ocean swells that makes this stop an exciting highlight of our adventure. Leaving Kuamo'o Bay, we follow the coastline and paddle over coral gardens and underwater lava tubes until we arrive at the next cave, which is almost always calm and cool. There is a dry lava tube above this cave that extends deep into the earth. If you want to go in, be sure to bring a flashlight. Cave entry is time, weather and ocean conditions permitting. Then, we head to the next cave, which sits in a protected, clear, calm cove. We drop anchor here and raft our kayaks together. Ample time is allowed to snorkel the reefs. The tropical fish are abundant, and you might be able to see octopus, uhu (parrotfish), yellow tang, butterflies, wrasse, or even a crown of thorns. Exiting the water here, we climb up to a vantage point above the cove where we enjoy our snacks and cold drinks. We may even have wild parrots fly overhead as we eat. Often we walk over to the tide pools to watch the eels hunting a'ama crabs. From our vantage point above the cove, the water looks clear and tempts many to jump off the 12 - 25 foot cliffs into the water below. After a refreshing break of an hour or so, we pack up and head off shore, where we hope to ride the trade winds home.

My wife and I took this tour in June 2013. We own kayaks, but were a little concerned it might be a bit rough kayaking in the ocean. It was great! The guides were excellent, and the kayaks were very safe and stable. We both jumped in from the cliff during the snorkel stop and had a great tour with our group. Be advised to follow the directions on your voucher. Barefoot Tom's information was specific and perfect, but we had to wait for some other people to be directed in via cell phone prior to being able to depart. Great scenery, and a great way to see it.
Ben was our tourguide and he did a great job. Did a bit more snorkaling and cliff jumping then expected but it was an awesome time. Two thumbs up!
This was a great experience. The guides were great and we even went to a secret spot where we were able to see the "pet" eel. I highly recommend this kayak adventure. Best value for any tour with what you get!
