Kilauea After Dark - Nui Pohaku
Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park and Kilauea Volcano, one of the most active volcanoes in the world, are a must see on the Big Island of Hawaii! Explore this World Heritage Site with your personal excursion specialist in an intimate sized group setting. On your way to the park, you will have the opportunity to visit the famous Punalu'u Bakery for lunch and stroll along the shore of Punalu'u Black Sand Beach in search of green sea turtles. Once at the park, your experienced guide will lead you on short leisurely hikes along the crater rim, through the lush rainforest which is alive with native birds, incredible foliage and a "walk through" lava tube. You will enjoy a stop at the Jaggar Museum with its real time seismographs, eruption footage and beautiful displays of lava and Hawaiian geology.
After enjoying a delicious dinner, our goal is to share with you the visual wonder of Kilauea after dark. Due to the nature of the volcano, the conditions change constantly, but we will do our very best to show you the amazing glow of the lava lake just below the surface of Halema'uma'u Crater. This molten lava is reflected in the gas plume above it when the conditions are right and sends a beautiful glow into the night sky. Throughout the tour your guide will share with you history and geology of the area during the frequent stops
along the way. This is an exciting and active way to spend the day discovering how Kilauea Volcano has shaped our land and how an active volcano can be beyond your dreams, yet within your reach.

I really enjoyed my tour, my guides were Nohe, Amanda, and Tyler, they did a fantastic job. I was in Hilo, so I can't comment on anything from the Kona side. I will say they are amazingly knowledgeable, fun, and the tour was good. The glow from the lava pool is very cool, and the trip is fun! Would definitely go again!
