Deluxe Volcano Tour - Kailani Tours Hawaii
Travel in comfort in brand new Mercedes Sprinter Passenger vans, drive over Saddle Road (2033 m. in elevation) through Parker Ranch, between the largest volcanoes (Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa), and make a brief stop at Mauna Kea State Park for a light lunch. From there, continue along the Saddle and drop down into the historic town of Hilo. The first stop in Hilo is Rainbow Falls! Experience the beauty of a Hawaiian waterfall and take pictures under the mango trees! Passing by downtown, stop at the King Kamehameha statue and pay respects to Hawaii's Great King. Across the bridge and near the airport you will stop for about 20 minutes at Big Island Candies for a bathroom break. While there, guests are able to sample their famous cookies, sip some Kona Coffee, or cool off with an ice cream or smoothie. After that nice break, head directly to one of the world's most-active volcanoes? Kilauea at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. There, Kailani's guides will show off the amazing landscapes including: Steam Vents, Halemaumau Crater's Smoke Plume, Jaggar Museum's, view of Kilauea Caldera, and Thurston Lava Tube! Just before sunset, enjoy an all-inclusive sit-down dinner at Volcano's finest restaurant - Kilauea Lodge! Choose from three entrees, bread, soups, salads, and a beverage of your choice. After dinner, we'll drive to Jaggar Museum, the best viewpoint for the nighttime glow at Halemaumau Crater! We had a fantastic time....far better than expected
Small groups ours had 12 including our guide Jim Carey. This was the best tour we have ever been on. Jim knows more about Hawai'i and Polynesian culture and lore then most locals. If you see something and you are wondering just ask him. He knows. Anyone can take this fantastic tour. There is some light hiking but if you don't want to venture far from the sprinter van you will be accommodated. Jim admittedly talks a lot and our group hung on his every word. He does not script the tour. It is based on what his clients would like to know. As you travel down Saddle Rd towards Hilo you will begin to go through the protocols. For the best experience I recommend you follow Jims instructions as he will guide you through this process. Good things come to those who follow the protocol. It also brings your group together. I don't want to give it all away. Take this tour and you might meet Uncle Jim. Aloha.
This was the best tour I have ever been on. In fact we had to drive our car back to the location and that owner of this company sat in our car and gave us a personal tour guide until were able to get on the tour bus. Chris that owner is very knowledgeable about Hawaii, and was able to answer all questions. He went as far as even showing us plants and there uses for the natives. I highly recommend this tour anyone considering it. You will be impressed as well as dinner. Thank You.
Took this tour Wednesday Sept 14th, 2016 Our tour guide was Jim Carey and he was fabulous! He went out of his way to make sure that this was a life time experience. You can tell by his detailed information and attitude that this job is his definite calling. Thanks Jim and Kailani Tours! You will always be first on my list!
