I took the tour on Nov. 3, 2016.  The weather was great and that helps.
During the drive there, our guide (Gail, a very fit young woman, yoga teacher,
full of energy and fun to be with) gave us lots of information about Maui,
Haleakala, etc - she was very knowledgeable.  She was also a very good
driver. She brought lots of water, snacks, fruit, sandwiches, backpacks for
those needing one and jackets, in case, it was cold.  We were a small group
of 12 people in a van. Gail took us to the very top of the volcano at first -
for the view, which was amazing. Then she took us a little bit lower (to
approx. 7000 ft.) and we hiked down to the crater.  It was very beautiful
as well as very interesting.  If you are curious about volcanos and if you
like hiking, don't miss this tour.  It's very special.
