Me and my wife had a fantastic trip with Hawaii Ocean Rafting. The cast Stephanie and her crew Sean were knowledgeable and fun. We followed Humpback mothers and calves and were able to get in close for viewing and photos. They followed sightings of breeches and spouts to come up to several competitive pods of males. We saw it all breeches, tail flukes, pectoral flaps. We were within 10 feet at one point. It was magical! It was the highlight of this trip.
Had to rescedule due to bad weather, but this was uncomplicated, only they did not inform us that the tour was cancelled though they did know our hotel. The tour itself was good, saw whales had a good and friendly captain. Good value for money.
Expectations exceeded. The crew is well connected with other sailing operations to find the hot spots. They were fantastic. We even got to dunk over the side of the boat with a mask for a close up view with mama and calf. (You cannot do this on the big boats). Amazing. Thumbs up!
It was so late in the season, but by golly we saw at least four pairs of whales! Maybe it was luck, but credit has to go to the captain too, who was attentive to what was happening in the water and knew when another boater had spotted whales so we could zone in. He shared interesting information about whales. Really enjoyed hearing the whale songs on the microphone too.
