The Quicksilver Molokini/Turtles tour is really a great value tour. Not only do you get to snorkel in great locations but the staff are very friendly and helpful. Only downside is we didn't get to see any turtles (not for lack of trying) but otherwise really great snorkeling experience.

Paige Donaldson
Excellent trip, we saw bottle nose Dolphins, humpback whales, sea turtles, and hundreds of fish all in one trip. Crew was very friendly, food was good, and the boat was nice.

Veronica Woolley
Our family had a great day of snorkeling, swimming with the sea turtles and as a added bonus seeing the Humpback Whales up close to the boat. Crew and Captain were awesome! Would definetely recommend to any of our friends!

Ben Switzer
Attentive and knowledgeable staff, seas and weather was great; saw turtles, whales and the usual fish snorkeling.

Boat was not as nice as expected - only downfall.

Ken Plank

This upbeat crew went all out to serve and interact with their guests. My husband was so impressed at how the crew was constantly offering to carry things up the stairs, help people get their gear, demonstrate snorkeling, take plate and cups to the trash, and so on. A+ for their energy and fun vibes. And you could tell they really enjoyed working together. Molokini was not as spectacular as I had expected. We had snorkeled in a handful of other places in Hawaii, and Molokini had a fair amount of color in the fish and coral, and we saw at least a dozen different species, so I am not sure why we were not impressed. It just seemed average. The water was clear enough, and my husband even spotted a reef shark, so we enjoyed the snorkeling overall, but at that point we weren't convinced we should have paid the money for this cruise. As I had compared Molokini snorkel trips online, I was looking for a trip that also went to the turtle and dolphin sites. On other websites the Quicksilver/Frogman cruise listed that it went to the spinner dolphin area at La Perouse, but this description here on Tom's Barefoot did not mention going there. When we boarded, I asked the captain if we would go there and he said it is all weather-dependent. As we left Molokini he pointed to the SW tip of Maui, and the crashing waves at La Perouse, showing me that it was just too dangerous to go out there today. Sure I would like to have seen dolphins, but I think it was nice that the description here on Tom's Barefoot was honest and did not deceive or set expectations that we would see the dolphins. If it is possible, the captain would surely like to take guests down there. Next we headed for the turtles. When the boat gets to a spot, a couple of the crew dive in and swim all the way around to be sure all is good. The first spot we went too the water ended up being too rough, and a tad murky. We went a little further up the coast, and the crew scouted around again. All good. They pointed to an area where we would be most likely to find a sea turtle, and we were just ecstatic to see one within the first few minutes! And then another, and another. They came so close to us! The turtles did not seem bothered by us at all! We saw so many turtles that we actually stopped hanging out with the turtles and went to see the eels, and someone saw an octopus. I know that there is no guarantee that you will see sea turtles, but the fact that we saw them just made the trip for us. That was the best! The food was plentiful and tasty - the breakfast was out on the buffet the minute we walked onto the boat. Scrambled eggs and ham, muffins, danishes, fruit. It took about an hour to drive out to Molokini, and we snorkeled about an hour there. After Molokini, they added veggies and dip to the buffet. We cruised about 30 min to the turtle area, and maybe spent 30 min there, and then the barbecue was served. The pork was from Beach Bums - quite tasty. They also had grilled hamburgers and macaroni salad. A crew member makes homemade chocolate chip cookies, and walked around generously handing out all the cookies you could eat - They were wonderful! The lifeguards were really on top of it. Several times they warned guests if they were getting to close to land (waves can push you into the reef), and they handed out all kinds of flotation helps: noodles, boards, etc. How cool that they had boogie boards with windows in them for kids that were not strong swimmers yet! The description here says that the cruise is 5 hrs, and since it starts at 7:15, we thought we were going to be done at 12:15. Well this cruise was our last shebang in Hawaii and we needed to get to the airport by 1pm for a 3:04 flight. We arranged to have a taxi waiting at the dock for us at 12:15, but it was 12:55 by the time we got back to the dock! Fortunately, the taxi was there and we still made our flight. We had dropped off our rental car before taking the cruise so we could head straight to the airport. We had also contacted Quicksilver to request that we could bring our two carry-on suitcases on board the cruise with us (Thanks to Orrin at the Lahaina office for making those arrangements for us! Most grateful!). We were really counting on that freshwater shower this boat has, so that we could be comfortable for the 18 hr trip back home. The shower is just a sprayer on the back of the boat, but nothing more was needed. We were so glad to be able to clean up! A couple final notes: be sure to bring towels (none available on board) and sunscreen. Also Dramamine. We had at least 4 people get sick on board, and one person said they were surprised to get sick because their family goes boating frequently, and has never been seasick. It was a particularly windy day, or maybe it was just that this boat is much bigger than your average ski boat. Anyway, I did not get sick in the least, but even if you think you will be fine, may be best to take medicine anyway. Our trip had a professional photographer on board who offered his services for $65. He will photograph up to 5 groups. We thought he did an acceptable job, and was super friendly. We were a little surprised to find that all of the photos he took were on the disc together, so we had pics of the other families, and they had pics of us, but I guess that is okay. We liked that he did more than take pics of us snorkeling - He took pics of us on the boat while we drove over. There were also pictures of the harbor, the boat, several fish and eels, and of course the turtles. Good memories. We would absolutely recommend this cruise to others. The crew were most attentive and upbeat. The food was tasty. And we encountered turtles! Thanks Quicksilver!
