The Flumin Tour - Flumin Kohala

Flumin' Kohala offers a unique and exclusive adventure deep in the historically rich and verdant mountains of Kohala. There you will explore the much storied Kohala Ditch, a 110 year old system of hand-wrought tunnels, elevated flumes, and concrete channels that once supplied millions of gallons of fresh water to the vast sugar cane plantations of Kohala. On a leisurely kayak float through 3 miles of the system, you will have the rare opportunity to access lush private lands, streams, waterfalls and other natural and man-made wonders kapu (forbidden) to all except guests of Flumin' Kohala. There is no white water involved in this trip. Learn about the culture and history of the Kohala region from local guides who are experienced kayakers and trained in water safety. A cultural and recreational wilderness adventure for the whole family. No Kayaking experience is necessary.

Operates: Daily: 8:00 am, 9:00 am, 12:15 pm, 1:15 pm
Departure Point: Check in at Flumin Kohala Headquarters 55-517 Hawi Road in Hawi.
Duration: 3 hours.
Equipment: 4 WD Van. Each 4 man kayak is rated for up to 1,200 pounds, there is a maximum of 300 pounds per person.
Inclusions: Personal flotation device, rain poncho (if it's raining).
Exclusions: Wear clothing that can get wet (you will get wet). Bring a towel and a change of dry clothing. A light jacket is recommended.
Restrictions: Must be able to walk over uneven ground and sit for at least one hour in an upright position without back support. This tour is not for those with back or neck problems, expectant mothers, or those fearful of dark, confined places or getting wet. Minimum age is 5 years old and maximum weight is 300 lbs.
This tour has a 48 hour cancellation policy. This means that once you're within 48 hours of the start time, the tour is non refundable. If you choose to cancel before this time, the standard 3% cancellation fee will apply. If the vendor needs to cancel your tour because of weather, a mechanical issue or any other reason you will receive a 100% refund of the price you paid.

Pride of America Cruise Ship: Flumin Kohala will not pick you up directly at the pier. This tour can be reached via a taxi or Tom Barefoot's Tours could arrange for a rental car shuttle to pick you up directly at the dock. This Big Island tour is available at 9:00AM on Wednesday of your cruise ship schedule.
