Check in was easy. We then went to go get our wet suits. Unfortunately they did not have wet suits big enough for two people in my group. The crew: Captain Chandler, First Mate Chris, and Elizabeth were all great. One person in our group got sick, and Elizabeth took good care of her. The remaining people had an excellent time in the water watching the manta rays. The water was extremely cold, but mantas were amazing. We even got to see a monk seal who sometimes frequents the cove we anchored in!

We had so much fun with Kamanu charters for the night time manta ray snorkel. The staff were very easy-going and helpful. The ship was clean and safe. The food consisted of light snacks, soft drinks, juices and alcohol for purchase.
The catamaran was small so be prepared for a small restroom and meeting new friends.

Had a fantastic time - will definitely do this again on our next visit to the Big Island.

All good!

Snorkeling with manta rays is a must do in the Big Island. It was our favorite activity amongst all the activities that we did on this nth trip to the island. We went on Kamanu's catamaran with total guests of 22. The staff were great and super nice. There were some non-swimmers on the tour but the staff assured them that they will help them get in the water safely and position them on the railings of the surfboard that everyone was going to hold on to view the manta rays. I myself wasn't sure if I would be brave enough to go into the water as I am not a good swimmer specially in the ocean but with their encouragement I got in and had a great time. We also had to era wetsuits to keep us warm. Our daughters who were on the other surfboard were screamimg with other girls as they had a lot of the manta rays come to their side. It was magical to see them glide and somersault as they feed on the planktons that came to the light from the bulbs that were attached under the surfboards. After 45 minutes in the water we were gives fruits, hot choco and cookies as we headed back to the pier.

Awesome tour. Had no idea one could be this close to manta rays. Captain helped guests feel completely safe in the water even though the manta rays sometimes come within inches of people in the water. Highly recommended!

The crew was less than attentive. They seemed more concerned with each other than the passengers.

Didn't get much time in water. I believe we were the first boat to leave
the site. Boat was full and you could move around but difficult.
Staff was very nice but barely saw the Manta. They stayed deep over
the light but we moved away from bottom light to draw them up to our light.
Didn't work and the Mantas really started comeing to the bottom light
after we moved so we were too far to see much and we had to leave and wouldn't
take us back to see them once they came so just saw from far away. Would
have enjoyed it a lot more if had 10 more minutes over the light before we left
but I guess time to go and didn't really experience anything much.

Don't be late or the crew will be pissed off. I thought Tom Barefoot's
tours did a great job in booking my trip with Kamanu, but I will never use
Kamanu again. I showed up 10 minutes before the boat was supposed to
leave. I didn't hold the boat up or slow down the departure, but the boat
captain was not happy and the crew was not friendly to me or my wife. I
paid full price for my wife to ride along, and the crew did everything they
could to ignore her. There are plenty of outfits that provide the Night
Manta Snorkel. Find another company. Saving $25 is not worth it.
These people are no fun to be with. There is a reason why they are
trying to undercut the other tour providers in price.
