Let the steam rise around you at the Steam Vents, a natural phenomenon that occurs when ground
water seeps onto the hot volcanic rocks below. The tour continues with a visit to the renowned Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut orchards and visitor center; and then a historic drive through Hilo Town
and along the Hilo bayfront to the free-falling Akaka Falls, located on the northeastern Hilo Coast.

  • Operates: Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Pick up starts at 9:00am at hotels and 8:30am at Hilo Airport and goes until 5:00 to 6:00pm (days may vary).
    Departure Point: This tour departs from Hilo East- side only. Hotel and Resort pick-ups per reservation.

    Restrictions:
    Age Restrictions:
    There is no age restriction however bringing infants or young toddlers is discouraged. This tour is an all day event and can be difficult on younger guests.
    Clothing Restrictions:
    Sturdy, covered walking shoes are required. Some hiking may be involved. Climates vary greatly so layers and light jacket or disposable ponchos are suggested.
    Physical Health Restrictions:
    Guest must be in generally good health with No medical conditions including heart, back or neck problems, recent surgeries, asthma or allergies affecting breathing.
    ADA Restrictions:
    Wheelchairs and Walkers are accommodated but vendor must know in advance. Guests will have an easier experience if they have others in their party to assist them in order to participate.
    Cancellation Policy:

    48 hours. This means that once you're within 48 hours of the start time, the tour is non refundable. If you choose to cancel before this time, the standard 3% cancellation fee will apply. If the vendor needs to cancel your tour because of weather, a mechanical issue or any other reason you will receive a 100% refund of the price you paid.
    Volcanoes National Park Restrictions:
    This park is home to an active volcano. For safety reasons, depending on levels of activity, tour itineraries-routes-destinations locations may be altered to adhere to strict U.S.G.S. guidelines. Any modifications are designed to provide guests a similar tour experience. Active lava viewing cannot be guaranteed.
