Here are two places that represent Hawaii before human contact; places where there are plants and birds found nowhere else on earth. Reveal the evolutionary epic of the islands. Don't miss this outstanding opportunity to witness Hawaii's native birds and forests. Target species include: Nene, Palila, Akiapolaau, Amakihi, Apapane, Hawaii Creeper, I'iwi, Elepaio, Omao, Io and Pueo.
Operates: Monday-Friday. Approximate times 6:30am to 6:30pm.
Departure Point: Departs from Kona Hawaii Forest and Trail Headquarters in Kona or Waikoloa Queens Shops, highway 190/200 junction.
Duration: Morning trips departing weekdays only (except holidays). 11-12 hours round-trip.
Equipment: Walking sticks, binoculars, day packs, warm wear and rain ponchos.
Capacity: Minimum of 6 to confirm a tour - maximum 12.

Deli style sandwich - Choice of ham, turkey, tuna or roast beef, lettuce, tomato and swiss cheese on whole wheat kaiser roll.
Veggie sandwich - Lettuce, tomato, carrot, cucumber, zucchini and swiss cheese.

Inclusions: A continental breakfast of fresh island fruit, locally baked banana breads and pound cakes, 100% pure Kona Coffee, teas, hot chocolate and juices. Lunch is a deli-style sandwich, chips, cookie, sodas and juices.
Exclusions: Guests may want to bring bug repellent.
Restrictions: Minimum Ages to participate 8 years old. Guests should not be physically challenged or unable to hike on uneven or rocky terrain. Sometimes encounters cool, wet or muddy conditions. Must be able to do short hikes of 1.5 to 4 miles. Cancellation policy for more than 10 guests is 14 days. Group rates are 10 people per van plus a $125.00 gratuity per vehicle.
This tour has a 72 hour cancellation policy. This means that once you're within 72 hours of the start time, the tour the tour is non refundable. If you choose to cancel before this time, the standard 3% cancellation fee will apply. If the vendor needs to cancel your tour because of weather, a mechanical issue or any other reason you will receive a 100% refund of the price you paid.
