Big Island Dinner Cruise

These Kona dinner cruise tours fill the bill for romance and relaxation perhaps more than any other category of activity on the island. Dinner cruises are often offered at discount pricing.
  • For starters, the Big Island is somewhat "laid-back" to begin with. Time seems to slow down a bit here and as time goes by you start to slow down a bit too.
  • Each part of the day takes on a special meaning as you get into the Big Island's rhythm. Though every moment of the day is precious and beautiful, perhaps the two-hours at sunset are the most beautiful of all.
  • And to spend these colorful, glorious and romantic moments on a Kona dinner cruise in the company of good friends or perhaps someone very special will provide the very crescendo to 'top off' your Hawaiian holiday.

Your Kona dinner cruise will depart from the leeward side of the island where the seas are calmest and most appropriate for a dinner cruise.

  • The coastlines of Kona and Waikoloa are spared the winds that may often hit the windward coastlines and make an ideal location for your Big Island dinner cruise.
  • Another unique advantage for taking a dinner cruise on the Big Island's leeward coast is that the Kona coastline is often blessed with the presence of the giant manta rays during this time of day and that is sure to add to the beauty and excitement of your evening.

  • Tom's Tips - Big Island Dinner Cruise

Well there is likely a reason you came to visit the Big Island instead of Honolulu, Waikiki or Maui. It very well may be that you wanted to spend some time in a place a bit more relaxed, not so busy, with less hub-bub and a bit more time to 'get in touch'. Ask around, you'll see that this is what has drawn many people over the years to the Big Island. Life slows down, there is less to do but in many cases the quality of the experiences in enhanced. This may very well be true of the dinner cruises. You will notice that there are many less of them than can be found on other islands. You won't be holding a ticket in a big line at a pier where you'll be entertained by hula dancers and the beat of drums as you prepare to board. What is more likely is that you'll be greeted by a friendly voice and welcomed on the vessel. You'll take a trip down a glorious coastline with lots to admire and you will be able to enjoy your time together on this beautiful island in a very meaningful way.

Dinner cruises, of course, are available on all the Hawaiian islands, but you get a little bit of a bonus when you do the dinner cruise on the Big Island. These will go out of Kona and they will give you an opportunity to actually do a bit of sightseeing in addition to just enjoy a dinner cruise with your dinner and cocktails and all that sort of thing, so it's a very relaxing, a very fun time. You've got music in the background and all that stuff going on but you actually get a chance to see some of the Big Island at a very beautiful time of day.

Let me see if I can pull this up, this map, so you'll be leaving from Kailua-kona, here, and you're going to be heading down to Kealakekua Bay in Captain Cook, one of the most beautiful shorelines. It's about 12 miles and a lot of the history that has happened here on the Big Island, including where Captain Cook was killed, at Kealakekua Bay, down here, you're going to be able to see this lot of reef, a lot of shoreline with caves and that sort of thing, a lot of marine life, and if you're lucky enough to be doing this in the winter time, you're going to have an opportunity to see some whales, hopefully.

On this trip one of the things that happens here quite, quite frequently is that you'll be able to see dolphins that come out to greet you and just all that, in combination with enjoying a meal and a cocktail and the company of friends and music really make it a delightful evening and you've got the sun that, of course, is setting in the west and it is setting directly over the ocean, no matter what time of year you're looking, so that makes the perfect conditions to have the green flash, which, in all likelihood, is going to be something you'll see at that point in time and then looking back on the island, whatever cloud's you've got going on, as the sun sets you're going to be able to see all the different colors of the clouds. The clouds will change with different colors of the rainbow and everywhere you look its kind of ... All the clouds are going to be adjusting but it's very, very beautiful and you really get that kind of a historical perspective to it. It's a sightseeing tour in addition to being a dinner cruise.
