  • Do you have any medical or health concerns?

If you are in generally good health, this should not be an issue.  If you have had, or do have serious health issues you may want to reconsider.  Any conditions involving knees, back, shoulders ankles or any conditions that might be effected by sudden stops or jarring impacts should be taken into consideration.  If you are pregnant, this is not a good idea. There is a certain amount of walking required as you move through each course and you may be climbing some stairs or crossing suspension bridges at some points.
  • How will you get to your Oahu Zipline Tour?  Do you have a car or do you plan to be picked up?  Is pick-up available and is there an extra cost?

  • Most zipline Oahu courses will provide a pick-up, but it will cost you perhaps $15 to $30 extra per person

  • If you have your own vehicle that is ideal because the areas you will be going to are wonderful for sightseeing and you can make a great day of your adventure.
  • How old do you need to be to go on an Oahu Zipline Tour?

  • Each course is somewhat different, but generally you need to be at least 7 years old.  Children under 18 will need to be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.
  • What are the weight restrictions?

  • The minimum weight will be between 70 and 85 lbs depending upon the course.  Maximum weight will be between 270 and 280 lbs.
  • How long does a tour take?

  • Each tour itself will take between 2.5 and 3.0 hours but keep in mind that if there is transportation involved that could add an additional 1.5 hours (each way) to your tour outing.
  • How many zips are on each course?

  • Each course will have between 7 and 8 zip lines with some additional suspension bridges and walking between lines.
  • How far in advance should I make a reservation?

  • This is the tough one.  Please make your bookings long before you come on your vacation.  Reservations should be made 3 weeks in advance to avoid disappointment.

Here is some additional information you will want to know about your Zipline Oahu adventure:

  • Oahu Zipline Tours provide some of the most excitement of any of the tours available on the island of Oahu.  As unlikely as it may seem, the island of Oahu, which has more visitors than any of the other islands, was actually the last island to take advantage of the Hawaii Zipline craze.  But, they caught up quickly and now have some of the most amazing courses to be found on any island.
  • You can choose between a tree-top adventure or one that glides over valleys, streams and similar terrain.

  • In  addition to the actual lines you will be able to traverse suspension bridges, boardwalks and in some cases rappel lines.
  • Short nature walks through the jungles will also be a part of your experience.
  • We offer a short course with just one zip crossing that is suitable for children as young as 6 years of age with a minimum weight of 60 lbs.
  • To get to the starting point of the first line on the course you will be given a ride on an all-terrain through beautiful scenery.
  • One of our oahu zipline tour courses zooms over a commercial farm that produces a million pounds of produce each year.
  • The remarkable Kualoa Ranch is the location of another of our courses and this is one of the most beautiful locations in Oahu and is the place where many famous blockbuster movies have been filmed such as King Kong, Blue Hawaii, Mighty Joe Young and Jurassic Park.
  • Each course offers side by side ziplining features that will allow you to race your friends to the finish.
  • The history and culturally significant regions that are found on each of the courses will be explained to you by your guides.

This has always seemed odd to me.  Oahu is undoubtedly the most popular island based upon visitor count.  It has so many different lu'aus, snorkeling tours and ocean activities.  Oahu however, was the very last island in Hawaii to have a zip-line course.  Here was one of the hottest tickets in all of Hawaii and the only island without one was the one that had the most visitors.  I never understood that but sometimes things just 'are what they are'.  Finally two great courses made their appearance on the island: the Climb Works Zip-line on the extreme North Shore and the beautiful zip-line that cruises through the trees at Kualoa Ranch... read more.

Well, this section is going to be discussing ziplining on the island of Oahu.

So here's a curious thing about ziplining on Oahu. Ziplining actually began in Hawaii in 2002. It began on Maui, and right after it started it became really popular. Everybody wanted to do it. All these different courses were put up all over the state. From Maui it actually jettisoned over to Kauai. Kauai really had the first giant spurt of ziplining courses that were available there. Then Maui ended up getting many more courses than it had, and then the Big Island ended up with some beautiful, beautiful courses that were there.

So we're talking over 20 years, some courses initially over the state, and then we have Oahu. Oahu is a place where we have more visitors that show up there than really any other island. Lots of activities, we've got the big Dinner Cruise boats with giant quantities of people and huge Lu'aus and all these activities. But for years no ziplining there, so that was always a curiosity to me. So many people wanting to do zip-lines but really no place to do them.

Then a couple of years ago we finally ended up some zip-lines that were happening there. We've actually got a couple really beautiful zip-line courses. There's one place that just has a single zip but as far as the courses, there are just a couple. Let me just show you here but they are very, very beautiful ones and really kind of fun. One we have is up on the North Shore and so it gives you an excuse to go up there and appreciate the North Shore, the Surfing area, going up on the east coast, however you want to get there.

You can spend a day getting up to the North Shore and then when you get there, you're in a somewhat remote part of the island. We call it country, actually, on Oahu. Going up to the country means you're going up to the North Shore.

You get to this one spot and this is your place where you're going to be doing your zip-lines. What they have is they have these UTVs that you get on, your whole group together, maybe a couple of them and then you head inland up, up, up to a mountaintop. When you get up there, that's where you start your ziplining. There's a series of seven zip-lines that cruise all the way back down to the ocean and they all vary in terms of their length of time and how long they are. As with all zip-lines you start off with small ones first to get a little bit of an idea of what to expect, and then you get into these longer ones that go on.

There's also some suspension bridges and even a rappelling event that occurs on that course. Anyway it's a lot of fun. It's a beautiful day out in the country and enjoying it and I highly recommend it. You should enjoy doing that one.

Another one that we have is in the Ka'a'awa Valley which is where Kualoa Ranch is along this area, and of course Kualoa Ranch is a place that has many activities that are available to you there, but this is also extremely scenic. This was the place where many of the movies that you're familiar with have been filmed and you will recognize the scenery as soon as you get up there to see it. Beautiful, beautiful valley, very jungled, incredible ridges and the valley itself is gorgeous.

Well they've got a treetop canopy zip-line that happens up in there, seven separate zips and a number of rope bridges and that sort of thing. It is very beautiful and very fun. We have zip-lines there that range from 200 feet or so to almost a quarter mile or maybe even a little bit more than a quarter mile. So they could be very long and you get going pretty fast on them.

These are the basic areas that we have the zip-lines on Oahu. Because they're in demand, everybody wants to zip-line, these are things you should organize in advance if you can and also keep in mind that you'll be staying in Waikiki down here. They're a distance for you to travel. They're all on this portion of the island so it's not like you can just go right to it. So it requires a little bit of planning but ziplining is now something you can do on Oahu as well as the other islands and you should take advantage of it because it's one of the most fun things you can imagine. If you've never done it before, you should try ziplining.

Zip lining in Hawaii is such a new activity category that the industry itself can't yet quite even decide how to write its name! You will see it labeled zip lining in Hawaii, ziplining in Hawaii, zip-lining in Hawaii or just simply as Hawaii zip tours.
