Maui Attractions

The classic definition of an "attraction" is something that draws attention.

Certainly that could be considered true of most Maui activities and tours and the places they may go to or see on Maui but for our purposes here the Maui Attractions category is usually something that simply does not naturally fit into any other simple category such as Fishing Charters or Snorkeling or Luaus.

Regular Maui Events

When viewed in that light attractions can also be seen as events that may occur at regular times during the year.

There are many such events that Maui has to offer and although we do not sell them all here you should be aware that they do exist and if they fit into your schedule during the time of year you are coming, you might want to check into them for a bit of the local Maui color.

Some of the attractions that we actually sell tickets for are found on this page but we are including a few events as well that you may want to become more familiar with on your own. They may include:

  • Friday Night is Art Night in Lahaina
  • The Maui Film Festival
  • First Friday Wailuku Street Party
  • Celebration of the Arts
  • The Fourth of July Makawao Rodeo
  • Celebration of the Arts
  • Maui County Agricultural Festival
  • Maui Cultural Diversity Days Celebration
  • Lahaina Banyan Tree Birthday Celebration
  • East Maui Taro Festival
  • May Day Celebration at Kapalua
  • Whalers Village Maui Onion Festival
  • Maui Brewers Festival

As you know, just about any sightseeing area on the island of Maui could be considered an attraction, such as the Iao Valley, Haleakala Crater or Hana. We narrow the definition of what we consider attractions here to mean essentially 'man made' attractions. If you were on Oahu for instance their attractions would be Sea Life Park, Pearl Harbor, Kualoa Ranch or the Polynesian Cultural Center. On Maui we really have only one 'attraction' that fits into this category, that being the Maui Ocean Center.

The Maui Ocean Center is great and you can easily spend the larger portion of the day there if you have a curiosity about the marine environment and all that it entails. There are amazing aquarium exhibits, outdoor encloses for various forms of sea life and information about the individual islands. The most dynamic of all the features they offer is a short but amazing 20 minute movie about Maui's humpback whales that is actually presented in a dome just like a planetarium. I have never met anyone that has not been 100% impressed with this exhibit and it is great for adults and children alike. We will provide you with an inexpensive ticket that will allow you to spend as long as you would like at the facility and upon your arrival you can sign up for the time you would like to view the Whale Show. They are scheduled for every half hour... read more.

The Hawaiian Aquarium

Maui is home to one of the worlds top aquariums, the Maui Ocean Center. Some of the highlights include the jellyfish cylinder. A Plexiglas Tunnel that is completely under the water and allows the viewer inside to see fish passing on both sides of them as well as above and below. A Touching Tank where you can reach in and actually touch the sea creatures; and more!

The concept of "Hawaii attractions" and the notion of "things to do in Hawaii" often come up at the very same time. There is obviously so much that one could consider doing that the task itself of sorting it all out becomes almost overwhelming.

The island of Oahu has more special attractions than any other island by far. You can visit Pearl Harbor and the Battleship Missouri Memorial, tour the Hawaiian Waters 25 acre water adventure park, participate in horseback riding, ATV rides, Hawaiian sailing and fishing, visit Hawaiian movie sites at the Kualoa Ranch, spend a day at the Polynesian Cultural Center or visit Oahu's famous Sea Life Park and interact with dolphins at this World Class Ocean Center.
