The Ekahi Tours Hana Adventure started out with a shuttle pickup, which for me was at Kmart because of the close proximity to my house in Haiku and the rest of the group was picked up at their hotels or condos. From here we stopped at the Maui seaside for breakfast and then continued east along the North Shore of Maui. We saw surfers at the famous Hookipa Beach Park and then we meandered our way through the jungle. We saw bamboo forests, rainbow eucalyptus, banyan, African tulip trees and more as we made our way towards lunch in Hana town. We stopped at many different lookouts to take pictures and our guide Leimoni shared stories and narrations in between. She told us how she was raised in Hana by her Grandmother in a house with over fifty brothers, sisters and cousins. Her knowledge of the land went deep and the stories that he shared were very insightful. We passed Hana town and made our way towards Kipahulu where we saw such things as the seven pools at the Haleakala National Park, as well as the grave of the famous aviator Charles Lindbergh. We continued on through the Kaupo and Kanaio regions into Ulapalakua where we made our final stop at the Tedeschi Vinyard for some wine tasting. They had wines here that were made from grapes as well as from pineapples and the views from this section of the island are utterly amazing.
