Oahu's varied surf breaks provide a wide spectrum of types of waves and if you know where to look you'll find the wave that is just right for you. If you're looking to learn to surf your best bet is to sign up with one of our great cadre of surfing schools. You can be taught by the Fireman's Surf School which consists of local firemen who have grown up surfing and want to share the sport with others, you can be taught by a company called "Girls Who Surf" who provide all girl instructors, you can go with Hawaiian Surf Adventures who will whisk you off on a boat to a special surf break or you can choose one of a number of various surf school options. You can usually learn to get up and ride a wave on your first day so the experience is well worth it.
