Polynesian Cultural Center
Of all the activities available on Oahu for children and "kids of all ages" perhaps none is more suitable to the purpose than the Polynesian Cultural Center. The Polynesian Cultural Center was really designed with the family in mind. Every aspect of the park is wholesome and clean. Not only is it fun but it is educational as well. In fact this is the best type of education in the sense that children learn about the Polynesian Cultures in a way that is fun and exciting without even realizing that they are learning. The days at the Polynesian Cultural Center begin at twelve-thirty in the afternoon and continue through to nine or so in the evening when the last of the luau shows and the "Ha. Breath of Life" performance is over. The entire day is one that involves roaming from one separate Polynesian Village to another, each one representing a separate and distinct Polynesian culture. In this way you will travel to the New Zealand village, the Tonga village, the Fiji village, the Tahitian village, the Easter Island village, the Samoan village and of course the Hawaiian village. Each village is built in the traditional style of that culture using all the same materials that would be prevalent in that culture. In addition, the specialties of the lifestyles of the cultures would be displayed as well. This would include the different interior styles of their homes, the different form of art and designs of their buildings, the varying kitchen set-ups and utensils, the different types of music they play and the different types of instruments they play them on. You will meet individuals indigenous to the culture of the village right there as well and you will be able to talk to them and ask them any specific questions. During the evening times the luau is always a big hit with the children and they will learn the tastes and textures of the various Polynesian foods. The big show at the end of the evening is sure to go over well with the children as well as this extravaganza includes over one-hundred performers in one colossal Polynesian production. The Polynesian Cultural Center is located on Oahu's Northern shore which is about an hour's drive from Waikiki and you can arrange for pick-up and return through the center as well.…
