Kualoa Ranch
Horseback riding is of course a favorite activity of many visitors to Oahu and Hawaii and the beautiful expanse of valley known as Kualoa, on Oahu's eastern coastline, has long been a place where horseback rides have been offered. This valley is truly one of the most dramatic and beautiful in the state. It is so beautiful in fact that it has been the scene and backdrop of many of Hollywood's famous blockbuster movies like: Jurassic Park, Godzilla, Along Came Poly, Pearl Harbor, Fantasy Island, Mighty Joe Young, Magnum P.I. and Windtalkers. Rarely will you find a spot of such beauty and isolation that is so near a population center such as Honolulu but it is only a forty-five minute drive and the folks at Kualoa Ranch can arrange to pick you up at your Waikiki hotel if you would like them to. The horse ride itself takes you from the front gates of the ranch into the valley itself and far enough in to be able to absorb the tremendous beauty and solitude that lies within.
