Surfing tours are one of the main activities offered by Kailua Sailboards and Kayaks. Surfing in old Hawaii was only participated in by the "Alii" class and was thus known as the "sport of kings". Today surfing is available to anyone who has the inclination to try and Kailua Sailboards and Kayaks offers some of the best instruction to be found on Oahu. Surfing in Kailua Bay and surrounding regions is a wonderful experience because the waves here are very consistent and the conditions are excellent for beginner surfers. The new epoxy boards are the boards of choice of the instructors at Kailua Sailboards and Kayaks as they are much lighter and more sturdy than fiberglass boards. Only small groups of surfers are taken out at a time and length of class is usually one-and-one-half hours. Traditional surfing is not the only surfing taught here as they will provide lessons for those wanting to try stand-up paddle surfing. Product: Stand Up Paddling Guided Tour
Description: Why lay down when you can stand-up? This hour and a half lesson takes you on a down wind course along Kailua's pristine beach. Participants will learn the basic paddling strokes and the secrets to turning and balance. Wildlife encounters are common due to the high visibility from standing on a board. Look for sea trutles and fish around the coral reef. Tour includes the use of a large stand-up board, with lots of stability, full deck pad and adjustable height paddle. After the tour, lunch is provided and the use of any beach toys including snorkel sets, boogie boards and bamboo mats for free time on the beach.

Duration: 1.5 hour lesson and 2 hours of beach time.
Equipment: Stand-Up Board - Aquaglide 11'3" NSP 11.0 or similar, full EVA Foam Deck Pad, Surf Leash, adjustable Vario Paddle, Aquaglide, Snorkel Set, Boogie Board or Beach Mat and complimentary Lockers 12x12x17.

Description: A typical day windsurfing for a beginner starts with a lesson-taking place on a windsurfing simulator. Here the novice has a chance to learn all the moves before going out on to the water. Special training boards with easy to handle sails are provided so everyone has a chance at the sport. The instructor spends ample time with the student in the water. In the afternoon students are encouraged to practice on their own. Beach staff is always on hand if additional help is needed.*
