The Original Glider Rides - The ability to fly like a bird was one of man’s original fantasies and this fantasy is yours for the asking on Oahu’s Original Glider Rides on the North Shore. I’ve been on many forms of aircraft in my lifetime but being propelled by currents of up-draft in a silent “swoosh” at 4000’ was a first for me. As sophisticated, safe and well designed as these aircraft are they are so stripped of all the usual instrument paraphernalia that is normally a fundamental appendage to aircraft that I felt, if an analogy could be made, as though I was in a craft that could be more likened to a soap-box derby than an automobile. Its simplicity was undeniable and this I think was its greatest charm. Flying stealth-like above the mountains of this extinct volcano with sun-kissed beaches beckoning in the distance and whales playing below it was easy to understand about mans innate desire to glide above on the wings of a bird. The flight in some way had the consistency of a dream and one only woke when the tires gently greeted the runway at tours end. I couldn’t help but think when it ended that this certainly was a “must do event”.

My first visit to Maui on 10/2007 was FANTASTIC! An all girls trip w/my 2 best friends & sister & boy, what a memorable trip that was! The highlight -snorkelling @ Molokini. Unfortunately, my sister got sick our 2nd day into our vacation & couldn't go, but the 3 of us will NEVER forget how much fun we had! I raved SO much about my snorkelling trip that my sister wants to return to Maui this coming April so she can experience the warm, friendly, funny staff you guys offered. It's a "re-do" of Maui for my sister & I'm tagging along =).
Thanks for a memorable trip & for taking MY fear of swimming in the water, let alone, the Pacific Ocean! Can't wait to go again this April!
