Imagine going on a sport fishing charter or deep sea fishing charter for marlin, ahi, ono or mahi-mahi off the coast of Oahu.
Head out in search of the legendary blue marlin or to troll the schools of ahi or aku that swim the channel between Oahu and Kauai.
While Oahu is well - known for the Arizona Memorial and other world-class attractions, it is also known as a fantastic location for sport fishing charters and deep sea fishing charters.
Fishing boat charters traverse the waters off Waikiki often 25 miles out to sea in search of an exciting Oahu sport fishing adventure.
Remember the old Hawaiian adage: "a bad day of fishing is still better than the best day at work". Do yourself a favor and see what deep sea fishing off the coast of Oahu is all about. All gear is included. All you need to do is bring a lunch, some cold beverages of your choice to put into the cooler and a firm desire to hook into one of the most exciting days of your life.
Fishing charters vary widely in creature comforts and pricing but the common denominator for all is the sheer excitement of hooking into the "big one" on a big game sport fishing expedition.
Fishing charters generally depart from Kewalo Boat Basin though some of the exclusive fishing charters can travel to any Hawaiian port to pick-up anglers and some have fantastic overnight accommodations as well.

Inter Island Sportfishing - Sport Fishing in Hawaii since 1950.. Inter Island Sportfishing was established over 50 years ago by John and Ed DeRego, fishing aboard the boat Stella Maris (Star of the Sea). Over the years, several boats have been retired and replaced by our current "fleet" of four boats; the one and only Maggie Joe, everybody's favorite Sea Hawk, fast and fancy Mazel Tov and our newest boat Ruckus is now available for charter! We welcome seasoned anglers or those with no previous fishing experience. Our daily morning briefing covers all the details to get you ready for that first bite! Offering daily private and shared fishing charters, our fleet is also available for Oahu sunsets, overnight island hopping, burial at sea, special and VIP trips for reserarch projects, films, movies and more..
Kuu-Huapala - If you're going to fish in Hawaiian waters, why not fish on a vessel that was designed to fish in Hawaiian waters. The Kuu Haupala was built right here in Hawaii and was designed by fisherman who know how the waters off Oahu should be fished. Being extremely large (55 ft.), having a low center of gravity, having been outfitted with stabilizers and been fitted with a drystack exhaust that vents above everyone way up in the air, gives this boat one of the smoothest and most comfortable rides of any boat in Hawaii.
Tradewind Fishing - Now if you really want to go exclusive, here’s your chance. Tradewind Charters offers fantastic private tours for your special occasion on a handful of boats. They do weddings and renewals at sea, bachelor and bachelorette parties, mimosa sunrise cruises, sunset dinner sails, fishing, sailing lessons, overnight and Inter-Island Cruises, Honeymooner’s Fireworks Cruise and just about anything you can make up on your own. All cruises are on a private basis so you’re guaranteed to be partying exclusively with your own group of friends and acquaintances. Obviously these cruises are more expensive than most if you are chartering the boat as a couple but you’ll be surprised how reasonable the rates are for such an exclusive service if you bring more friends to the event where the price per person goes way down. The vessels vary in size depending upon the size of your group and the type of experience you are looking for but they are always first class all the way and you won’t be disappointed with the service. Many amenities can be added to your choice of cruises including stretch limousine service to the boat, special buffet dinners and even adult entertainment. You think it up and we’ll make it happen with Tradewind Charters.
Wild Bunch - If you’re wanting to fish on a charter boat that is clean, comfortable, fast and air-conditioned with all the amenities, keep the Wild Bunch in mind. This boat and its knowledgeable captain and crew know how to catch fish off the coast of Oahu and they have all the necessary up-to-date equipment to make it happen. The Wild Bunch is a good choice for the comfort of the whole family.

Fishing in Oahu - Oahu is a great place for fishing particularly off the western facing shores and the waters directly out to sea from Waikiki. Most of our charter boats will depart from Kewalo Basin. The water gets very deep very fast off this coastline so it's a good place to find the big fish. One of the most often used fishing strategies is to follow the coastline north at about the 1000 fathom depth line in route toward Kaena Point. This is the "fishing zone" for the big fish coming from great depths. A fishing boat can easily travel about 30 miles up the coastline before reaching the half-way point on a full day charter an so a lot of ocean can be covered. Another tack is to head out to the relatively shallow fishing grounds called the Pinnacles or another called Penguin Banks which lie south of Oahu. Each day requires a different call by your captain and much of the choice for the days best catch is likely to be based upon the previous days conditions and success rate.
