Oahu X-Treme Tours and Activities
Oahu's X-Treme Tours are Designed to get the Adrenalin pumping!
For our purposes, X-Treme Tours are those tours that are adventurous, exciting and usually require some measure of physical activity. You may think that these tours are designed only for the young but that is not the case. In most instances, anyone who is relatively fit can expect to be able to participate. Some of what we refer to as X-treme Activities can be found in the listings on the right side of this page.
Tom's Tips - Oahu X-Treme Tours
- The shark adventure tours are an "over the top" adrenalin pumper. You will never forget this experience.
- Being towed up in the air in a motor less glider by a plane that has a motor and being released into the air to glide on the air currents reminded me in some strange way of going down a steep hill in a go-cart as a child. You were on your own and had only the forces of nature to guide you.
- Wind surfing may not seem like an X-Treme activity at first, but tell me that when you're flying over the top of the rippled surface of the ocean, skipping up into the air, at 20 mph.
Does being in the water just underneath the surface watching a fifteen-foot shark swim by just feet from you sound X-treme. If you are the type of person that likes "X-treme" and you think that this fits the bill, you might just want to give Hawaii Shark Encounters a try. Hawaii Shark Encounters is one of the few companies that offers this level of excitement in the state of Hawaii. This type of tour can only be found on Oahu so make sure that if you have an interest you do it while you're

Are you ready for what may be the most exciting tour ever offered in Hawaii? North Shore Shark Adventures was the original shark adventure company in Hawaii. Their concept has made them wildly popular as people swarm to see dozens of huge sharks from the safety of a steel cage. Perhaps twenty-five or so sharks often twelve to fourteen feet long will circle your cage and pass inches from your eyes. If this sounds like something that can only be attempted by Phillip Cousteau, guess again. Thousands

X-treme activities is the name of the game with the exciting and thrilling fixed wing glider rides offered by The Original Glider Rides which take you soaring along the north shore of Oahu. These glider rides offered by The Original Glider Rides will take your breath away. You will start by being towed upward attached to a tethered line by a small plane until you reach the desired height (which in my case was the mountain tops in the area surrounding the Waianae Coast) and then your pilot will

X-Treme Activities in Oahu - In my youth there was no such thing as X-Treme Sports. In those days we played baseball, football or track and field. In my son Jake's generation, X-Treme Sports seems to be the only activity they engage in at all. I must admit, it all seems quite exciting. There is some element of danger or "edge" that is a constant companion of those that indulge in these sports. I guess that adds in some way to the appreciation of it. When you are constantly and continuously challenged to stay within the skill level of your chosen activity it keeps you totally in the moment. During those "zen" moments you are totally charged and 100% alive. I guess I can see the appeal. Some years ago I went paragliding over the slopes of Haleakala and though the outcome of the experience was a totally safe one, I remember being completely petrified while hanging in thin air 1000 feet above the mountain. At the same I was maybe more alive, alert and aware than I have ever been. It was not an experience that you could ignore and that I think is the allure for these X-Treme events. Each island has its share of activities that could be considered X-Treme on one level or another. What might be considered X-Treme to one may not be considered such by another. In any event, we have attempted to assemble here a number of the ones that might appeal to those of you who are looking to find that "edge" while visiting this island. If you find these calling out to you, go ahead and give them a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
