Every effort is made to not intrude on their surroundings and there are certain protocols you are asked to follow but the result will in all likelihood be that you will be in the open ocean playing with and enjoying the antiques of these wild Hawaiian dolphins. The dolphins are quite curious and if you simply enter into the water fairly near them, they will come over to you for a peek and in this way we engage them only when they themselves want to be engaged.

Ko'Olina Ocean Adventures Ko'Olina Marina is the big beautiful Harbor on Oahu's west side that is "ground zero" for dolphin watching on Oahu and one of the wonderful companies we have that goes out to view these feisty marine mammals is Ko'Olina Ocean Adventures. Ko'Olina Ocean Adventures, rather than use sail boats, uses the fast and stable rigid hull inflatables and swift and maneuverable power boats to catch-up with and view the dolphins. The dolphins on this coastline are generally either the Bottlenose Dolphin or, more likely, their cousins the Spinner Dolphins. The Spinner Dolphins are the more plentiful variety and also the most playful. Their antics are a joy to behold as they swim and jump and spin and race each other and race the boat's wake at the bow.

Sea Life Park Sea Life Park is a great place to view the dolphins. Yes, there are places on Oahu that you can see the dolphins while swimming in the wild but you in all likelihood will not get as close or be able to touch them in those conditions. The dolphins at Sea Life Park have been nurtured and cared for in this facility for years and it is obvious that they enjoy the setting. So many of the sea creatures are so fun to watch at Sea Life Park but none are quite as much fun as these playful dolphins. The Dolphin Cove Show is a real crowd pleaser. The dolphins will flip, jump and spin (often in unison) in this comfortable open-air theater. You'll have a great time here but it will also be educational as well. The Dolphin Encounter is another way to interact with dolphins at the park. This is particularly great for small children who would feel more comfortable in the shallow end of the pool while dolphins come up to mingle with them and perhaps even offer a kiss. Children here will learn about the friendliness and intelligence of the dolphins and will have tons of fun interacting with them. The next step up in terms of interacting with the dolphins more would be the Dolphin Swim Adventure. Here's your opportunity to fulfill your desire to swim with a dolphin. You'll be in the water with the dolphins for thirty minutes petting them, posing with them and learning to participate with them in a series of close encounter activities. Finally you'll also be able to participate in the Dolphin Royal Swim. Here's where you're fantasy's really come to life. You'll truly be able to swim with a pair of dolphins as you grab a hold of each of their dorsal fins as they take you for a ride across the pool. Not to be outdone by that encounter you will next be able to ride like "rocket man" across the pool as you are catapulted in the air from beneath by dolphins pushing you up by your feet.

Dolphins in Oahu - Lets get very clear about this one point. Dolphins are located throughout the state of Hawaii and can be seen off all the islands. These fun-loving marine animals have a permanent home here in Hawaii and are in the islands all the time. There is no doubt however, that the single best place to view them on a consistent basis is off the Waianae Coastline in the area extending north of Ko'Olina to Kaena Point. This area of Oahu coastline seems to suit the dolphins to a tee as they are found here everyday. Often the best time to see them is in the morning as they are resting on the surface after a big night of foraging and hunting for food. Seemingly always up for a good time and a great adventure, these dolphins almost always rise to the occasion for a bit of play with human snorkelers and this makes for one of the best times you will have on your entire vacation.
