Bike Hawaii
Bike Hawaii is one of the few bike tour companies on the island of Oahu and offers some of the very best bike adventures in Hawaii. Calling Bike Hawaii simply a bike company however is really not accurate. In addition to tours involving bike riding they also have tours the combine riding bikes with hiking, and even sailing and snorkeling. The Ka'a'awa Valley Dirt Mountain Bike tour is one of their most popular. This is a tour that is done one-hundred percent off-road and on the dirt. This six-hour tour is held from nine in the morning to three in the afternoon and will pick you up at your Waikiki hotel and transport you to the east side of the island. On the way you will see the Nuuana Pali and Kaneohe Bay and drive through the Ko'olau Mountains. Once at the Ka'a'awa Valley you will ride over beginner dirt roads and there are some great single track options. This valley is one of the most beautiful to be found in all of Hawaii and you will recognize its scenic cliffs and mountain ridges from many of the blockbuster movies you have seen over the years like Jurassic Park and Six Days and Seven Nights. This valley most recently has been the filming location for the TV series "Lost". This area is spectacular for biking and in fact, many years ago my son Jake competed in an off-road bike racing competition in this valley in which he won the gold medal for first place in his age division. From start to finish that race was about forty-five minutes in duration and he thought it was one of his most fun rides. Another shorter but also popular tour is their Oahu Downhill Bike Adventure on paved roads, which takes you up to quaint and beautiful rainforest at Puu Ohia and then allows you glide down the Koolau Mountains to the area known as Makiki. …
| Description: Departing from Waikiki, professional nature guides will shuttle you by van to a tropical rain forest on a private 75-acre property in Manoa Valley. Then take a narrated nature hike (2 miles roundtrip) along a jungle stream with mountain pools to a 200-foot waterfall. You"ll hike back over a scenic ridge-top viewing the many tropical plants, flowers and trees. You"ll then be shuttled to the top of Tantalus where you"ll be outfitted with your bike before descending the 5 mile paved jungle road. You"ll stop at Manoa lookout for pictures and a brief narrative.
