The Battleship Missouri is one of the most frequented attractions on the island of Oahu. The Mighty Mo Tour - a 35-minute tour with knowledgeable guides that provide colorful stories about the ship's history and life at sea. Stand where General Douglas MacArthur stood when he accepted the Instrument of Surrender that would end World War II; discover the thrilling details of the kamikaze attack on the Missouri; stand in the shadows of the 16-inch guns that pummeled Inchon, Korea; and see where 28 Tomahawk missiles were launched during the Gulf War. The Acousitguide Audio Phone Tour - a self-guided tour filled with sound effects, historical and tactical information and special interviews from USS Missouri crew members. Over 100 listening stations are available throughout the ship, including the entire main deck, superstructures and Surrender Deck. The entire program is 2 hours in length and is one of the options included with the Mighty Mo Pass. Quantity is limited and is on a first-come-first-served basis. What exactly does it take to move a ship three football fields long at a speed of nearly 40 MPH? How does one 16-inch gun fire a 2,700 pound projectile to an incredible 23 miles with pinpoint accuracy? Not only will this tour answer some of your most frequently asked questions about one of history's most dominant warships, but you'll get hands on training with lessons on lighting off one of the eight three-story Babcock and Wilcox boilers. Grab onto the throttles releasing the steam which drives the ship's massive propellers. THIS is a physically strenuous tour and is not recommended for those with mobility constraints. You must be able to climb ten sets of ladders (Navy-talk for steep, narrow stairs), step over a dozen two-foot hight obstacles and navigate through tight doorways and low overheads. Close toed shoes are mandatory. This intimate 75 minute tour has a capacity of ten visitors at a time and limited to guest ages 10 and up.
