Maui Zip-line Adventure-Tours
Zipline tours and zip-line adventures in Maui.
So what is a Zipline tour anyway?
Zipline tours are a fairly recent activity to appear on Maui, but Maui Zipline tours are certainly one of the most popular activities on the island and are often booked weeks in advance.
Simply put, a Zipline is an aerial runway consisting of a pulley suspended on a cable that is mounted on an incline. Zip lines are designed to allow a seated and harnessed passenger to traverse valleys, gorges or drop-offs along an inclined cable by being attached to a freely moving pulley while using gravity as a motor.
Professional Zipline courses such as those found on Maui are often operated at high speeds and can cover long distances at considerable heights with multiple Zipline crossings included in the course. Maui has a number of Zipline courses and they are breathtaking with regard to both the scenery and the Maui Zipline adventure itself.
Maui Zip Line Courses
Maui Zipline adventures have really found their calling in recent years with Maui zip line courses found all over the island.
- Maui Zip-lines are found on the slopes of Haleakala
- The beautiful forested meadowlands of upcountry Olinda are the home of the longest double zipline in the state
- The ridges behind Kapalua provide a dramatic setting for a Maui zip-line course.
- The West Maui Mountains above Kaanapali have scenic views of Kaanapali, Lahaina and the Lahaina Roadstead from a zip line course.
- Along one incredible stretch of valleys from Waikapu to Maalaea on the east facing slopes of the West Maui Mountains can be found the longest zipline in the state of Hawaii.
Tom's Tips - Maui Zip line Tours
- Many people have an initial fear about participating in a zip line adventure. It's not hard at all and is actually a great deal of fun!
- If you're going along with someone you might want to try one of the courses that allows two people to glide down on side-by-side zip lines. You can even race each other.
- The views, and photo opportunities, you will have from most of these Maui zipline courses are the best you will find on the island.
Flyin Hawaiian Zipline Zip-line from one Zip Code to another! (well, almost!........ at least from one town to another).Yes that's right. Flyin Hawaiian Zip-line is so long (it is the longest continuous zip-line in the world when you add together the length of the seven zip-lines on the course) that it extends from the district of Waikapu to the area known as Maalaea. The Flyin Hawaiian Zip-line is remarkable in the sense that it extends along much of the length of the east facing slopes of the West Maui Mountains

Kapalua Adventures Right above the world famous golf courses of Kapalua sits the Kapalua Adventures zipline and ropes course. This state of the art zipline course features over two miles of line. Each segment of the course has parallel ziplines that allow the riders to go at the same time on lines that run right next to each other. There is a multi stage braking system that allows the zipline to be stopped with no rider input. The views from these ziplines are magnificent. The Kapalua Adventures course sits at the

Piiholo Ranch Zipline Piiholo Ranch offers a unique selection of tours on their vast upcountry ranch. They have offered horseback rides for years but something that has only came about recently is their zip-line course. This course is no joke with its longest line stretching out over two thousand feet. Something that makes this course stand out from many of the other zipline courses around the world is the fact that all of the lines go in tandem. It is impossible to have two people ride the same line at the same time so

Skyline Eco Adventures - Haleakala Zipline Tours Now the fun really begins. Skyline Eco Adventures was the first to offer zip-line adventures on Maui. Located on the slopes of Haleakala at about the thirty-five hundred feet above sea level, Skyline offers a series of zip-lines that jump over progressively larger gorges and canyons. It’s a good thing that the lines progressively step up from smaller to larger lines because once you’ve already had experience on the first three by the time you get to the fourth jump because you probably wouldn’t do it

Skyline Eco Adventures - Kaanapali Zipline Tours High above the resorts, amidst the verdant valleys of Mount Kahalawai...an incomparable adventure awaits. This land steeped in legend, with panoramic views, plunging cliffs and lush valleys, plays host to a zipline adventure unlike any other. The adventure begins with an exciting off road ride deep into the rugged and beautiful lands above Kaanapali and a two mile hike over uneven terrain. Zipline Tours and Zip-line Adventures in Maui - 10 years ago we had no idea what a “zip-line” was in Hawaii. Today it is an important activity on each of the major Hawaiian Islands. Seldom has an activity taken such a foothold in the landscape of Hawaiian activities as has the zip-line. Part adventure, part adrenaline, part hike and always scenic, the zip-line experience has captivated the imagination of the island visitors and made it into a tour that is quite often impossible to book within a week or two of the event. So here’s my advice. It’s highly likely that you or one of those in your party will want to participate in a Hawaii zip-line adventure. Just make sure you book early so you won’t be disappointed.
The Piiholo Ranch Zip-line is the newest of Maui's great zip-line adventures. A good case could be made that this zip-line may also be the most exhilarating. With spans crisscrossing Maui's famous Maliko Gulch the zip-rides are long and breathtaking but none as amazing as the final zip-line of the adventure which spans almost 3000' and is the longest zip-line in Hawaii (it is also the third longest zip-line in the world). This line is so long that it actually takes about a full minute to complete at speeds of about 50 mph. The Piiholo Zip-line is actually located on the Piiholo Ranch which is a working cattle ranch that was once part of Maui's Haleakala Ranch. Horseback rides are given on the ranch as well. Both these adventures are run and operated by Maui's Baldwin family which dates back seven generations here to the 1820's when the Reverend Dwight Baldwin was Lahaina Maui's first missionary. The views from the upcountry Olinda region of Maui are among the most beautiful to be found on Maui and the charm and ambiance of the Piiholo Ranch only serve to enhance both the zip-line and the horseback adventures.
