Wake Maui
Wake Maui is not a surfing company but they do offer a variety of different wakeboard trips that normally appeal to the surfing crowd. The Captain of Wake Maui is Ryan Hickey who is originally from the lakes of Montana made his way to Maui some years ago and brought his passion for wakeboarding with him. If you like board sports then you should at least experience the speed jumps and excitement of wakeboarding in the ocean while you’re visiting Maui. Captain Ryan uses a twenty-three foot Ski Supreme V232 boat with a one thousand pound ballast system to kick up additional wake. Packages are available for beginner through advanced riders. All the equipment is provided by Wake Maui. Generally the surface of the ocean is very calm during the early morning hours before the winds pick up. This time is recommended for beginner riders. In the afternoon the winds tend to pick up which makes for more chop on the water. This can be very fun for the more advanced riders because you can launch airs off the chop as well as the wake but can be a bit difficult for the less experienced riders.
| Description: This time slot is reserved for activities towed behind the boat because the smoothest water is early in the day. A good reason to get up early even on vacation. Leave Kaanapali Beach early in search of a pristine piece of water. When we find it, each rider gets a half hour to wear those legs out. Sunrise from the volcano is great but try sunrise looking back on Maui from a ski or a board! This is one of the non private charters. Sure, you might sacrifice a little privacy, but you"ll make it up in new found friends.* Departure Point: Dig Me Beach, in front of Leilanis at Whalers Village Operates: Daily: 7:00 or 7:30am (times are flexible and vary with season) Duration: 2 to 3 hours depending on how many passengers.
