If you would like to travel inter-island to see the volcano from Maui there are other options available that do not take commercial airlines or even set down on the big island for that matter. | Description: The flight will follow the north shore of Maui to Hana, (or weather permitting, over Haleakala!) and then across the Alenuihaha Channel to the north shore of The Big Island. The tour features spectacular cliffs, valleys, and waterfalls on the way down the Hamakua Coast to the Hilo area. Then the tour continues on to the Pu"u O"o Vent, viewing inaccessible regions of the volcano area and all active flows. The tour then proceeds back toward Maui, either through the saddle between Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea, or North of Mauna Kea over the Parker Ranch. After crossing the channel again, you follow the South Shore of Maui back to the point of origin. Each tour is a unique adventure and about 2 hours long.
