Sugar Cane Train

If children are playing some part in your vacation plans to Maui then the Sugar Cane Train should be one of your first stops. This narrow-gage railroad train is similar to the ones use to haul cane in the 1800s. The Sugar Cane Train travels back and forth between the Lahaina and Kaanapali areas many times daily, providing ample opportunity to hitch a ride. The singing conductor provides a little extra spice to liven up the young ones.
 
  • THE SUGAR CANE TRAIN - LK&PR (Lahaina, Kaanapali & Pacific Rail Road) Features a narrated 6 mile train ride between Lahaina and Kaanapali. Great fun for kids, family and train buffs.
  • TRAIN SCHEDULE:
  • Puukoli Boarding Platform, by Kaanapali Resort - 10:15, 11:45, 1:45, 3:15 and 4:45pm
  • Lahaina Station, near Pioneer Mill - 11:05, 1:00, 2:30, 4:00 and 5:30pm (last train does not return)

ACTIVITY

ROUND TRIP TOUR - Features a narrated ride on the L.K. and P.R.R.. 6 miles of track reenacting the journey of the train used for sugar cane production from 1890 to 1950. Go over Hahakea Trestle, a 415 foot long bridge approximately 30 feet high, experience a "blow down" trainspeak for when 30-40 feet of steam shoots out! Free bus transportation between Lahaina Station and waterfront. All tours are scheduled so that plenty of time is allowed for exploring Lahaina and you may return on a later train.
