Piiholo Ranch arguably may be the single most beautiful horseback riding location on the island. Located in the Upcountry Olinda area of Maui just above the cowboy town of Makawao, its rolling hills and lush pasture lands make it a spectacular location for a ride. The area is steeped in history and this ranchland has been owned for six generations by Maui's famous Baldwin family. There is plenty of open range to navigate and riders will see many native plants and trees indigenous to Hawaii and occasionally endemic forest birds as well.

PIIHOLO RANCH - The elevation of the ranch is 2,000 feet and is near the Rainforest. There are two rides daily, from Monday-Saturday. All rides are suitable for experienced and first-time riders. Western saddles are provided. Riders must be at least 8 years old and in good physical condition. You get to spread out when on the ride, there's lots of room. NO galloping on the trail ride.

• You must wear long pants and closed-toe shoes.
  
• You should have a jacket, wear a hat of some kind and plan on some sun protection.
  
• Cowboy style raincoats are available, if needed.
  
• RIDES GO OUT RAIN OR SHINE !! up to 6 riders per tour. Check in 30 minutes prior.
  
• Must be 8 years old (12 and under are required to wear a riding helmet)
  
• MAX WEIGHT - based on height up to 240lbs. ALL riders must be in good health.

ADVANCED RIDE - 3 Hour ride that explores the ranch at a faster pace, trotting through pastures and loping along Koa Ridge and finally a 1/2 mile lope up Piiholo Hill. This ride is for horse owners or people who have ridden extensively - 200 rides or more. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS RIDE IF YOU ARE NOT VERY EXPERIENCED. MUST BE AT LEAST 10 YEARS OLD
