OCEAN DISCOVERY CAMP for children ages 6-12 years old. This 2008 Summer Ocean Discovery Camp is led by Pacific Whale Foundation's Education Director, Dr. Karolyn Braun. Campers age 6-12 choose a daily schedule to suit their interests, from a range of fun activities such as making squid ink tattoos, games, beach fun, crafts, swimming and hands-on science, as well as field trips to Maui Ocean Center, tide pool explorations, surf and windsurf lessons, and a snorkel cruise to Molokini. Each week will have its own theme, which ranges from Fishy Families to Totally Turtles.

TEEN DISCOVERY CAMP AGES 13 - 18: Offered in four or five day sessions, this camp will expose teens to a variety of topics from boat handling, scientific investigations, marine animal observation and more! In safe, educational and entertaining sessions, teens will be exploring the best that Maui has to offer, in camps led by one of Maui's foremost education centers.
Participants will learn how to operate vessels from experienced, safety-certified instructors who put the 'fun' in fundamentals. In addition to learning the basics of boating, this 5-day program has a strong focus on water safety, teamwork and education. This camp will teach basic seamanship skills including knots, splicing, fancywork, chart navigation, line-handling, nautical terminology, taking the helm, and more aboard our floating classroom Ocean Intrigue and will also include a day of windsurfing and a day of snorkeling.
Cost: $429 for 5-day session or $85 daily rate. Advance enrollment is required.
BE A COASTAL EXPLORER - June 30 - July 3
Teens will explore the beautiful, unique coastline of Maui in this activity-packed camp. Throughout the 4 days, they will study the science of the surf zone in a laboratory and onboard the Ocean Intrigue. Participants
will also have a chance to participate in fun activities focusing on marine animals and their environment. This camp includes a day of searching along the coastline with Pacific Whale Foundation's staff to look for local
cetaceans, tide pool exploration, snorkeling and enjoying a day at the beach!
(Note: Due to the Independence Day holiday, this is a 4-day camp
Cost: $344 for 4-day session or $85 daily rate. Advance enrollment is required.
OCEAN SCIENCE ACADEMY - July 14 - 19
Is your teen interested in becoming a marine scientist? This 5-day program introduces them to coral reef ecology, laboratory investigations, and marine mammal research in preparation for a marine science internship or career. Campers will learn about boat safety, current whale research, coral reef ecology and more! Program highlights include a snorkeling field trip to Molokini, a visit to the Maui Ocean Center, a research cruise, and various leadership/team-building activities. Participants complete a small group project and presentation. Whale Academy takes place Monday, July 14 through Friday, July 19.
Cost: $429 for 5-day session or $85 daily rate. Advance enrollment is required.
