Mendes Ranch
The Mendes family runs an active cattle ranch on Maui's Kahakuloa coast. This ranch is located on the east side of the West Maui Mountains north of Wailuku. The Waihe’e Valley is located above the ranch which is one of the wettest spots on the planet. The Medes family has lived here ranching for generations. In recent years their focus has split from ranching to also include a horseback ride that they operate on their large ranch. This ride has gained a reputation for bringing the local color and flair of the Mendes families’ paniolo roots to the visitors of Maui. The Mendes Ranch is one of the few horseback rides that actually allow experienced riders to do a bit of running and they are also very good at providing a calm riding experience for those who are novice or fist time horse riders as well. The Mendes Ranch stretches from the lush valley above all the way down to the coastline. The route of the horseback ride tours most of the ranch going through rainforests high up on the mountain and through pastures along the coast. The horses of Mendes Ranch are very well kept and are trained for this ride. Most of the guides are members of the Mendes family themselves that were born and raised on or around the ranch.…

| Description: Paniolo Horseback Helicopter Combo: Tour begins at the Sunshine Helicopters hanger at the Kahului Heliport where clients are picked up by a Mendes Ranch van at approximately 7:45am and are transported to the Ranch. Clients are treated to an unforgettable 2-hour horseback ride, which begins at the base of the lovely Waihee Valley. At the conclusion of your ride enjoy a Paniolo BBQ lunch of Mendes Ranch Ribs, BBQ Chicken, Country-style Baked Beans, Salad, Dinner Rolls and refreshments. Afterwards you are picked up at the ranch via helicopter at about 12:30pm and are given a 30-minute flight taking in the aerial beauty of West Maui. Return to the heliport between 1:00pm to 1:30pm.
