Maui Kayaks
Are you looking to go snorkeling from a kayak on your vacation to Maui? Maui Kayaks offers a variety of kayaking excursions departing from locations all over the island. They offer trips that are suited for all skill levels, from mellow first timer outings to strenuous advanced trips that will cover miles of distance. On the southern side of the island there are trips that journey through the abundant Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle populations of Turtle Town as well as others that snorkel Makena Bay where in the wintertime whale sightings occur very frequently. On the western side of the island there are trips that will take you through the marine preserve at Honolua Bay, which is normally only offered during the summer when the surf season on the north shore is done (in the winter this location is one of the best surfing spots on the island). There are other trips that are available out of Kaanapali or Oluwalu. These trips are all suitable for a beginner to intermediate paddler. If you are looking to really push yourself physically there are private, custom trips available that can be custom tailored to meet the demands of you and your group. The staff of Maui Kayaks has a reputation in the industry for having experienced guides, professionalism, an enthusiastic attitude, being Red Cross Certified Life Guards as well as having top quality gear and equipment. Most of the life in the ocean either directly eats, or eats another creature that eats some form of algae, plankton or coral. These plants require light to grow. The ocean water naturally filters light and after about fifteen feet of depth there is no longer enough light left to grow the algae, plankton and coral. The shallow waters right off shore are some of the best areas to snorkel because of the large amount of light that is able to reach the bottom and grow large amounts of food. This constant food source makes for large populations of fish in these inshore areas. Kayaks are able to go through very shallow water without scraping the bottom. This really makes them the only way to go in the shallow areas that would force a larger boat to run aground. If kayaking is what your looking to do Maui Kayaks could be what you’ve been looking for.
