Cave Adventures Did you realize that Maui has one of the largest natural walk-through cave systems or lava tubes in the world? This underground cavern at Ka’eleku actually extends back about 2 miles from its opening in Nahiku near the Hana Airstrip deep into the mountains surrounding the sleepy hamlet of Hana. Some of the tunnel near the cave opening is literally large enough for a freight train to drive through although the further depths of the cave require real spelunking expertise. |

MAUI CAVE TOURS Enjoy a Self Guided Cave Tour or Hike with experienced guides deep into the subterranean passages of Ka'eleku Caverns, one of the World's largest volcanic lava tubes. Much of the cave is 40 feet high to the ceiling and many lava formations such as stalactites, stalagmites, gas bubbles, and pillars are pointed out by your guide. A cool temperatur of 57 to 64 degrees F. Ka'eleku Caverns is located 3 miles before Hana Town - watch for sign on Hana Hwy...Ka'eleku Cavern after the 31 mile marker. Turn on Ulaino Road 4/10 of a mile left at gate. RESTRICTIONS: Guests
on all tours should wear long pants, close toed shoes and a tee shirt. |

SELF GUIDED CAVE TOUR - 30 to 45 minutes long. Come anytime, NO waiting. Handrails throughout the cave to guide you safely through your journey. An incredible family adventure for ages 6 and up. Walking the winding trails of this ancient underground lava tube system is fun, safe and easy. Signs are posted along the way pointing out and explaining the formations you'll see throughout the cave. Great for families, but children must be 6years or older. Ages 6-17 must be accompanied by an adult. Guests need to be physically fit for walking on sometimes uneven terrain and have good vision. Offered Monday-Thursday from 10:30am to 3:30pm ONLY! |

1 1/4 HOUR "LAVA TUBE TOUR" - Usually led by the owner of the cave himself this tour is designed for those who want a guided experience in order to learn even more and be able to ask questions. Receive assistance with underground photography. Explore the largest section of the cavern system on this hiking tour. There is no paved walkway throughout. Guests will have to duck down in a couple of spots, Great for families, but children must be 6 years or older. Ages 6-17 must be accompanied by an adult. 12 to 14 hikers. Includes Flashlights and optional hardhats. Friday and Saturday 11:15pm ONLY! |

2 1/2 HOUR "WILD LAVA TUBE" TOUR - You must be in good physical condition with good vision and 15 years or older, 230 lb weight limit - In addition to passing through the same large passages as on the walking tour, imagine wriggling into narrow crawls, climbing rocky ledges and ascending a 20 foot ladder to explore secret chambers and "overtube hideaways". Trails become rougher and the lava formations are great. 6 to 8 hikers. All gear provided: hip packs, water, hard-hats, gloves and flashlights. Just wanted to say a special mahalo to you. Our trip was amazing and you truly have a gift when it comes to planning!! Snorkeling with Aqua Adventures was great they were so kind and encouraging. My husband and experienced snuba with Todd and he was so patient!! The helicopter ride went very well with Alex Air and our pilot was experienced and confident which was so reassuring for me (this activity my husband chose). The Luau was fun at the Marriot too.
