Makena Coast Dive Charters

Makena Coast Charters is a small, exciting Maui dive company that operates SCUBA diving tours to Molokini and the Makena Coast. The owners of Makena Coast Charters, Steve and Eve Hogan, are a colorful couple and very people oriented. Steve, the company founder, is also a captain, dive instructor as well as an award winning cinematographer. Eve is an author with two stories in the “Chicken Soup for the Ocean Lovers Soul”. Aside from their dive tours, Makena Coast Divers also offers underwater videography services and weddings at sea. The "Makena Mele" is a spacious thirty-five foot Force Marine Boat that can accommodate twelve divers (led in small groups of seven) or up to twenty snorkelers. There is also an enclosed cabin for getting out of the wind and sun. Makena Coast Charters continues to provide a first-class experience for certified divers, introductory divers and snorkelers. The warm waters of and clear visabilty of Molokini make it a truly world class destination. They depart from the Kihei Boat Ramp.…

Family Dive Days - Makena Coast

Description: Tuesday and Thursday offers a diving adventure for the whole family, Introductory Divers, Certified Divers and Snorkelers all on the same boat. The way this works is while the certified divers are down on the deeper dive, intros will be receiving instruction on the boat. Then they will be able to snorkel at Molokini. Their dive will be in a shallower location along the coast with the Green Sea Turtles (The DLNR has outlawed introductory divers at Molokini unless they are enrolled in a certification class.) Several dive sites are available in both locations so we pick and choose daily based on weather, sea creature activity and your preferences!

Intro Scuba Diving - Makena Coast Dive Charters

Description: The Introductory Diver receives instruction, snorkeling at Molokini and a one tank dive off the Makena Coast. Certified divers and snorkelers are also welcome on this two-hour, one-tank trip designed for a shallow dive. This slower paced, shallow dive is excellent for Introductory Divers, refresher divers, photographers and videographers. This is also a great dive for certified divers as a third tank of the day, or as a first dive of your vacation for "getting your feet wet" before doing a deeper dive on the morning trip. Experience one of Maui's beautiful south shore locations where the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles live—Turtle Town, Makena Landing, Wailea Point, Pu'u Olai or La Perouse — weather dependent.

WW II Airplane/Manta Quest - Makena Coast Charters

Description: This new 2 tank afternoon dive adventure is offered on Wednesdays only. The first tank will be on the Curtiss Helidiver Sb2C-1C which lies on the sea floor at about 55 feet. The plane crashed on a routine training mission in 1944 and has been attracting beautiful aquatic life ever since, however it wasn't discovered as a dive site until early 2010! She is fully intact except for the tail section which is said to be part of the reason it went down over 65 years ago. The second tank will be at Manta Spot, a very leisurely dive with a maximum depth of 45 feet. Just like the title, it is a quest and we can't guarantee which animals will swim by, but it is the most likely place to see Manta Rays on Maui. If the Mantas don't present themselves it is also a great spot to see Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles, tropical reef fish, and blow some bubbles while having a great time.
Departure Point: Meet at the Kihei Boat Ramp
Operates: Wednesday check in 11:15am return around 3:30pm
Duration: 4 Hours
