Health and Wellness in Maui - Some years ago we decided to add “health and wellness” to our list of activities. For years Maui has been considered a “Mecca” for alternative health practices. Over the years hotels like the Grand Wailea, Four Seasons, Westin, Kapalua Bay and Ritz have provided health practitioners of many modalities to assist their guests in the pursuit of health. Annually since 2004 the month of September on Maui has highlighted the LifeFest Conference in Kapalua which has combined programs to educate the mind, rejuvenate the spirit, encourage physical fitness and underscore indigenous Hawaiian cultural and spiritual practices. Perhaps I personally have been a bit off beat in the past years attending meditation retreats, yoga sessions, health clinics, enjoying massage sessions and going to gatherings which have dealt with more unusual topics such as astrology, hypnosis and aromatherapy. I must admit however, that these have all made my own life richer, fuller and have added a touch of deeper meaning to it all. Some of the most fulfilling times in my life have been when I’ve gone somewhere on vacation and devoted my entire time to one of these endeavors. For me, these have been the vacations from which I have returned home the most refreshed, filled with energy and prepared to tackle life’s little obstacles. If you’re anything like me, I think you’ll find time well spent enjoying the many offerings that you’ll find on this page. Fitting a massage in between your luau and your snorkel trip may be just the thing to make your vacation blossom. Some of these modalities may be completely different and foreign from anything you’ve ever experienced. I encourage you however to get out there and try some of this stuff. My guess is that you’ll find it rewarding and have just as much or more fun than you would on a traditional activity.
