Bike Tours Down the Volcano
Ben Hall's Haleakala Bike Company was the first bike tour company on Maui to provide a Self-Paced bike ride down Haleakala. These bike rides generally take you up to the summit to see the crater and then bring you back down the mountain in a van to a staging area just outside the national park at about 6500'. Then you're off on your own to coast back to the Haleakala Bike Company shop in Haiku. The Haleakala Bike Company provides great tours for those who wish to take their time going down the mountain and progress at their own pace. Ben was one of the first to recognize the desire of many individuals to ride the mountain on a self-guided basis and his lead has gone a long way to satisfy that demand.

Sunrise Special - Haleakala Bike Company

Description: Experience the freedom and independence of mountain biking at your own pace. You'll be able to stop, get on and off the road when you want, and operate the bike within in your own comfort zone. Van departs from the Haiku Store two hours before sunrise and arrives one hour before sunrise at the summit. This ride includes transportation to the summit, van tour of the park, van ride to park entrance where staging is at Park Entrance at the 6,500' elevation where you begin your downhill bike ride. Kahoma Ranch Tours - If you like ATV's, you'll like dune buggies. This trip provides a great way to get up onto the mountains and valleys above Lahaina for a breathtaking view of the roadstead and the islands in the distance. I particularly like the idea that children 5 years old and over can ride along as a passenger. This is a guaranteed hit for the young ones and they will probably really get off on the fact the get muddy all over is the order of the day.
