Cruiser Phil's Volcano Riders
Cruiser Phil is a well known personality in the Haleakala biking industry and his company has always rated well on performance and on safety. We have known him for years and his proactive efforts to make his company one of the best on the mountain have gone a long way in creating the desired result. In the National Park Service Safety Analysis Report published in February of 08 they wrote: "The accident rates vary considerably by company, which may indicate that the business practices of different companies are a factor in determining accident risk. Bike It Maui and Cruiser Phil's have very low accident rates which may indicate that a particular company-specific operating practice can produce low accident rates". It should be noted that Cruiser Phil's is one of the smaller companies that traverse the mountain and as such he is capable of monitoring his quality control to a consistently high level.

Description: Take a trip to seen the sunrise from the
Haleakala Crater, then go for a downhill bike ride. Trip includes Hotel
Pick-up and Drop Off, guided van tour of the Summit of Haleakala with
the bike ride beginning outside the National Park at the 6,500-foot elevation
and ending in Paia Town. A continental breakfast is provided at the base
yard prior to tour and a no host meal stop in either Kula or Paia town
at the discretion of the crew and/or group.*
Operates: Daily Pickups from around 2:00 to 3:00am *
Departure Point: Hotel or condo pickups
Duration: Approximately 8 hours
Equipment: Bike, helmet, windbreaker suit, insulated
gloves and a Joe Rocket motorcycle jacket for added safety and comfort.

Inclusions: Continental breakfast and no host lunch

Exclusions: You must pay for your own lunch in either
Kula or Paia (no host).

must be over 15 years old, have recent bicycling experience, be over
5 feet tall and weigh no more than 275lbs. Riders must also, be physically
able to endure this outdoor activity and be free of any medications that
may cause drowsiness or inattentiveness. No pregnant riders. Must Sign
a Medical Release Form and an Acknowledgement of Risk Form prior to taking
the bike ride. Any guests not qualified to ride a bike will be asked
to enjoy the tour from the safety of the van. Pick up times vary with
time of year.

Cruiser Phil's Volcano Riders - I knew Cruiser Phil back in the 70's, back when was only Phil, just after I had opened the business. Born and raised on Maui, in those days his business expertise was focused on his mangerial duties at Ed and Don's Ice Cream on Front Street in Lahaina. Since then we have all expanded our horizons and in 1998, he opened Cruiser Phil's after over a decade of experience in the industry. Recently his company was awarded the "Pick of the Litter" among Maui Downhill Bike Companies by the guidebook Maui Revealed.
